PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Misterioso Damballah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henry comes to the cage accompanied by knuck if you buck . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, El Misterioso Damballah!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henry throws a right hand that Damballah ducks under and follows up with a left that Damballah also avoids with ease.
Damballah lands with an uppercut that bounces Henry off the cage and back into range.
Damballah has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Henry is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Damballah jabs Henry right on the nose. Henry blinks but takes it well.
Henry misses with an attempted mid kick.
Henry wants to clinch.
Damballah fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Henry tries to clinch up.
Damballah appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
A combination from Henry does no damage.
Damballah throws an overhand right that lands on Henry 's shoulder, as Henry tries to avoid the shot.
Henry dodges the punch combination from Damballah.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Damballah swings for the body but Henry moves out of range.
Damballah cracks a nice hook into Henry 's ribs.
Henry connects with a high kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Henry misses with a wild combination.
Henry takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Henry rushes Damballah and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Damballah pulls guard.
Damballah is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Henry is controlling him.
We've been hearing that Henry has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Damballah keeping moving, preventing Henry from controlling successfully.
Henry is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Henry wants to control from the top but Damballah keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Damballah is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Henry is controlling him.

Henry loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Henry throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Damballah works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Henry prevents Damballah from getting back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Damballah moves into range and connects with a jab.
El Misterioso Damballah seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Henry tries to clinch there but Damballah circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Henry takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Henry tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Damballah manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Damballah lands a jab to Henry 's midsection.
Damballah cracks Henry with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Henry tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Damballah pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Henry is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). El Misterioso Damballah!
After the fight, El Misterioso Damballah was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
