Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Key Stone Light! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karl Max! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Light drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Max throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Light shoots for a double leg takedown but Max sprawls well. He's pushed Light's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Light is breathing heavily. Max moves into the clinch. Light wants a takedown.

Max has Light pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Light manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Light wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Key Stone Light. That's going to take a lot out of him. Max drags the fight down to the ground.
Light is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Iron Fist Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. This has been an exciting period of action! Max is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Light has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Max tries to land a sweep but no joy. Max pulls Light in close to prevent any damage. Light is looking to advance position but Max has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Max wants to take Light's back here but Light is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Max sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Light taking shots to the head. Max scoring with strikes but Light is staying in there. Max controlling the position easily from mount. Max wants to control the pace but Light is squirming around nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Max is landing with some decent strikes but Light is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Light wants to hold on but Max pushes him away. Max stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Light gets tackled into the cage by Max. Max maintains the clinch. Light stops a takedown attempt from Max.
Max wants to break the clinch but can't.
Max working hard to break the clinch. Max pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Max dives in for a single leg takedown but Light sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Max rushes Light and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Max breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A nice combination there by Max.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Max shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Light as he jumps to the side.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Max throws a right hand that Light ducks under and follows up with a left that Light also avoids with ease. Max forces Light back against the cage and clinches. A right hand to the body from Max.
Max manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Light with that takedown attempt. Max unleashes a big counter combination but Light bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Max gets a double leg takedown into Light's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Max showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Max stands and throws Light's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here. Max tries to move to mount but Light blocks the move with his legs. Light taking a bit of punishment here - Max scoring with strikes. Max wants to control but Light is keeping him busy. Max is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Karl Max dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Max rushes Light and presses him up against the cage. Max manages to break the clinch.
Horrible takedown attempt by Light or perhaps it was just good defense by Max, which made it look bad. Max misses with a wild combination.
Max looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Light could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Max content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Max wants to lay and pray for a moment but Light keeps working. Max slows the pace down in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Max takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. My spies in 3Band MMA ($500/week) inform me that Max has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Max gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Light fails to land the takedown. Max misses the shot to the body. Max fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Light, pushing him back against the cage. Max is defending well against a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Key Stone Light. That's going to take a lot out of him. Light gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Max.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Max not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Max is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Light is aware though and is defending well. Max working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Light doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Light manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Max tries to strike from the bottom.

Max has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Light is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Max breaks from the clinch.

Light stuffs the takedown. Max fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Max shoots for a takedown but Light saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Nice sprawl there from Light as Max shoots in. Max moves into range and clinches up with Light. Max looking to slow down the pace here. Max is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Light keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Max's efforts to push away. Max is defending well against a takedown attempt. Max drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Light gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Max manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Max working a defensive guard here.
Max is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Light rolls with it to try and escape but Max cranks on the arm and Light is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
