Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Maciej Gorski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benjamin Briggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gorski comes to the cage accompanied by Harnaś. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maciej Gorski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benjamin Briggs!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gorski darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Briggs can do anything to dispel that myth.
Briggs is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Briggs is doing well to control the position and prevent Gorski from advancing to side control.

Gorski is working for a submission of some sort.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gorski trying to work for an americana but Briggs has managed to regain full guard.

Briggs wants to sweep here but Gorski controlling him for the moment.
Briggs is pulling down on Gorski's head to control his posture.
Briggs is continuing to stall.
Briggs lands a decent shot there.
Gorski won't allow Briggs to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gorski is fighting to break Briggs's control of his arms but Briggs is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Briggs is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gorski pushes Briggs off looking to stand but Briggs dives back in and keeps control.

Gorski tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Briggs is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Briggs lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Briggs uses his free foot to push down on Gorski's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gorski.

Briggs jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Gorski is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Gorski and Briggs has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Gorski is letting Briggs control him for a moment.
Gorski is trying to get back to his feet.
Gorski tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Gorski regains half guard.
Briggs is controlling the pace.

Gorski manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Briggs slaps away a takedown attempt from Gorski, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A head kick misses from Gorski.
Briggs dodges the punch combination from Gorski.
Gorski pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Briggs swings for the body but Gorski moves out of range.
Gorski shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Briggs pinned against the cage. Briggs gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Briggs scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Gorski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Briggs on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A close round but Benjamin Briggs will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gorski looks to land a combination. Briggs sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Gorski misses with a takedown attempt - Briggs sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Briggs tries to work over Gorski's front leg with a kick but Gorski checks it.

Briggs shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gorski is trying to defend but Briggs finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Briggs lands a nice short elbow.

Briggs lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Briggs grinds an elbow into Gorski's temple.
Briggs works to advance to full mount. Gorski defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Gorski in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Gorski is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Briggs scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Gorski?
Briggs pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Briggs breaks from Gorski's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Briggs fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Gorski is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Briggs pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Briggs has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gorski is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Gorski is in a horrible position here. Briggs smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Gorski is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Briggs cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Briggs controlling the pace for now.
Gorski is in a horrible position here. Briggs smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Gorski is trying desperately to improve position.
Briggs with shots to the head and body - Gorski looks very uncomfortable down there.
Briggs lands a couple of good shots and Gorski has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Briggs is breathing heavily.
Briggs really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Gorski.

Gorski wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gorski is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Briggs has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Briggs has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Gorski! Can he survive? No! He's out! Briggs gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
