Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Swift! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mikey Walsh! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walsh keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Walsh scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Walsh has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Walsh connects with a crisp jab. Walsh throws a nice looking combination but Swift bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Walsh throws a predictable looking body shot
and Swift counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Walsh with a poor takedown and Swift counters with a stiff right hand. Walsh pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Walsh shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Swift pinned against the cage. Swift gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Walsh misses the shot to the body. Walsh throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walsh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Swift as he jumps to the side. Johnny Swift has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikey Walsh. Swift misses with a hook. Walsh moves into the clinch. Swift prevents the takedown attempt.
Walsh tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Swift just stands there and leans against the cage. Walsh manages to break the clinch.

Swift dips to his left and cracks Walsh with an uppercut! Walsh with a body punch. A glancing blow. Walsh shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Walsh is keen to just control but Swift is a slippery customer. Walsh throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Walsh is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Swift sees it coming and defends easily. Walsh working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Swift's thigh. Swift counters though and makes it back to full guard. Swift knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walsh on the ground. Walsh is standing up over Swift. Swift looks to escape but Walsh dives into side control.

Swift is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Iron Fist Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Walsh is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Swift knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Walsh looks up at the clock and then as Swift takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Walsh smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

He's worked his way up against the cage but Walsh has just dragged him back down to the mat. Swift has one of Walsh's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage. Walsh scores with punches from side control. Walsh tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Walsh looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Swift is avoiding damage well.

The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Nice takedown defense from Swift. No joy for Walsh on that attempt. Walsh has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Walsh throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Walsh moves into full mount! Swift won't be happy about that!

Walsh moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Swift has worked his arm free - good work by Swift!
