Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jako Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Fang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jako Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matthew Fang!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fang closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Day's guard.

Day pushes Fang off and scrambles back to his feet.
Fang tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Day paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fang closes the distance and clinches up with Day, looking for a takedown. Fang pushes Day against the cage but Day circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Day scores with a jab to the jaw.
Fang fails with a takedown attempt.
Day chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Day tests Fang's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Day gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fang to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Day wants to sweep but no luck.
Day is pulling down on Fang's head. It's preventing any offense from Fang, at least for the moment.
Fang won't allow Day to get back to his feet.
Day keeping moving, preventing Fang from controlling successfully.
Day controlling the position.
Day looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fang is one step ahead there.
Fang seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Day is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Day dips to his left and cracks Fang with an uppercut!
Jako Day is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Day lands a nice looking body shot.
Day dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Fang. That did some damage!
Fang shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Day but Day pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jako Day has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Fang.
A left and a right from Day both land. Nice combination.
Some wild striking there from Day.
Fang unleashes a big counter combination but Day bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Fang takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Fang doesn't manage to clinch there - Day circles away.
Fang has his takedown stuffed
and Day counters with a straight right hand.
Day lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Fang shoots in and drives through. Day sprawls well.
Day fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Fang has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Fang on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Day lands a two punch combo.

Fang has closed the distance and engaged Day in a clinch.

Fang jumps guard but Day stands there with Fang around his waist. Fang gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Fang prevents Day from breaking the clinch.

Day manages to break the clinch.
Jab by Day.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fang fails with an attempt to clinch.
Day throws a right and a left that both miss.
Fang doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Day counters with a one-two to the body.
Fang goes for a double leg but Day avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Day continues to drive forward.
Day was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Fang tries to clinch but Day moves out of range.
Fang misses with a takedown
and Day counters with a left to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jako Day dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Fang needs to keep his hands up - Day had a free shot at his head there.
Fang takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Fang shoots in and drives through. Day sprawls well.
Day is looking for a counter combo.
Fang fails with the takedown.
Day appears to be looking for a big counter.

Fang closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Day quickly recovers to half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Day's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Day won't allow Fang to pass to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fang prevents Day from standing back up.
Fang is just content to waste time from the top position. Day takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Day is controlling Fang's posture.
Day manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fang manages to get himself to full guard.

Day wants to get up but he can't break Fang's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Day trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Fang is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Day trying to hold on to Fang's head to control him but Fang postures up.
Fang thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Fang passes into side control, despite Day's attempt to control the position.

Day is pushing Fang's head away, looking to escape. Fang manages to hold on to the position though.
Fang in the domination position with Day hanging on.
You can see the frustration on Day's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Fang in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Fang wants to control but Day is keeping him busy.
Day is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Fang off and has taken his back!
Fang tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Matthew Fang has got the better of the ground game so far.

Fang is looking to clinch but Day is avoiding it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Day scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Day.

Day is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fang can do to turn this around?

Fang throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Day's waist but Day gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fang off to one side.
Day goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Day throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Fang shoots in but no luck this time.
Day misses with the combination.
Fang fails with the takedown
and Day counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Day moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Day tests Fang's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A right-left combo lands from Day.
Fang checks the leg kick.
Fang throws a fast counter high kick but Day manages to duck under it in time.
Fang shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Day counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Fang has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Fang needs to keep his hands up - Day had a free shot at his head there.
Day lands a jab.
Matthew Fang has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Day scores with a hook to the body. Fang takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Day throws a leg kick that misses.
Day lands a nice hook to Fang's body. Fang takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Fang takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

and Day counters with a straight right hand.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fang is defended easily by Day.
Jako Day is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

and Day connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jako Day showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Day, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
