Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Abalajon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cox has chosen Sometimes as his entrance music. George Abalajon has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, George Abalajon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivan Cox!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abalajon uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cox.
Abalajon throwing a counter right hand but Cox manages to avoid it.
Cox takes a shot right to the bread basket.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cox has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Cox ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Cox throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Abalajon jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Cox lands a high kick!


It looks like George Abalajon has been cut.
Abalajon on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cox tries to clinch
and Abalajon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Abalajon takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Cox lands a left and a right that send Abalajon crashing to the mat, dazed. Cox thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Abalajon is breathing heavily.

Abalajon stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cox.
Cox misses with a body kick.
Abalajon throwing a counter right hand but Cox manages to avoid it.
Abalajon tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cox sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Abalajon somewhat.
Abalajon avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Abalajon half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Cox throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Abalajon.
Abalajon appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
The fighters circling - Cox throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Abalajon throwing a counter right hand but Cox manages to avoid it.

Cox throws a right hand that Abalajon ducks under and follows up with a left that Abalajon also avoids with ease.
Abalajon takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Cox missing with a left hand there. Abalajon was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Abalajon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cox tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Abalajon is in Cox's guard.

Cox wants to sweep but no luck.
Abalajon trying to control but Cox is working from the bottom.
Abalajon seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Abalajon wants to control from the top but Cox keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Cox scores with a head kick.


George Abalajon's cut is getting worse.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cox tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Abalajon chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cox can pounce on him.
Cox tries to clinch but Abalajon is having none of it.
Abalajon throws a big shot that misses.
Abalajon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cox.
Cox throws an overhand right that lands on Abalajon's shoulder, as Abalajon tries to avoid the shot.
It looked like Abalajon wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
A looping hook to the body misses from Abalajon. Cox does a little dance to reset his feet.
Despite the aggression on Cox's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Cox dominated that round.
The cut man is working on George Abalajon's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cox fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Abalajon manages to avoid it.
Cox tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Abalajon was well out of range. Poor timing from Cox.
Abalajon checks a low kick from Cox.
Abalajon closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A telegraphed right hand from Cox misses the target.
Cox lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Cox misses with an uppercut. Abalajon saw that one coming.
Cox misses with a body shot.
Cox throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A counter left hand to the body from Abalajon misses its target.

Cox throws a poor cross that misses
and Abalajon counters with a nice uppercut.
Cox throws out a loose jab but Abalajon uses good head movement to avoid it.
Abalajon was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Ivan Cox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cox throws a jab but it's blocked by Abalajon.
Cox thumps Abalajon with a low kick.
Cox scores with a nice strike.
Ivan Cox seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Cox throws a head kick but Abalajon moves out of range.
Ivan Cox is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cox stalks Abalajon and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Abalajon's face. Abalajon staggers backwards, shaken.


George Abalajon's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cox throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Abalajon drops down looking for a counter takedown but Cox sprawls and moves away.
Cox goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


Jeez, George Abalajon's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Abalajon looks to score with a jab to the body but Cox is just out of range.
A slapping leg kick lands for Cox.
Cox throws a nice inside leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cox gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cox lands with a short head shot on the inside.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at George Abalajon's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Ivan Cox!
In his post fight interview, Ivan Cox started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
