Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hideaki Inoue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Runge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hideaki Inoue! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Runge! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Francis DeMontford and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the body from Runge misses and Inoue counters with a straight right hand. Inoue moves into the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Runge. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Runge creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Inoue blocking some punches.

Runge tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Runge doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Runge on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stalling in the clinch from Inoue.

That's one minute gone in the round. Inoue effectively controlling the action here. Runge fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Inoue is trying to pull guard but Runge has him pressed against the cage. Runge is trying to maintain a safe position but Inoue gets an underhook and turns Runge into the cage. Inoue is trying to push Runge away but Runge has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Runge misses with the head strike.
Inoue tries to throw a body punch but Runge avoids it by throwing Inoue back against the cage. Nice body punch from Runge - that landed with a thud.
Inoue can't find room to land a body shot as Runge controls the action.

Inoue tries for a takedown but Runge manages to get underhooks.
Inoue keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Runge's efforts to push away. Inoue lands a right hand that snaps the head of Runge backwards. Runge misses with some punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Inoue drops down looking for an ankle pick but Runge pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hideaki Inoue. That's going to take a lot out of him. Runge gets in close and instigates a clinch. Runge misses with a punch to the body.
Inoue tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Runge smiles and moves away.
Inoue shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Runge as he avoids it easily. Runge rushes Inoue and presses him up against the cage. Inoue tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Runge avoids it. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Runge as Inoue tries to tie him up. Runge misses with a hook to the ribs.
Runge swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Runge lands on the inside with an uppercut. Inoue blocks a body shot from Runge. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Runge is working Inoue over against the cage.

Inoue decides to pull guard. Inoue is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Inoue has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Runge can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Inoue trying to control the position here. Runge must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Runge is sitting in close to Inoue's body. Inoue has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Runge is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Runge is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Inoue.
