Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Federico Berger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tech Nine! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nine tries to keep at a distance but Berger has taken the fight into the clinch. A body shot lands from Berger.
Nine throws a knee to the head but misses.
Berger blocks the elbow strike.
Nine is trying to break the clinch but Berger is controlling him. Nine manages to break the clinch.
Nine misses with a hook. Berger ducked under it nicely. Nine throws an overhand right that lands on Berger's shoulder, as Berger tries to avoid the shot. Nine looks to land a left hand but Berger moved out of range nicely. Nine bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. A low kick from Nine misses and Berger counters with a takedown into side control. Berger working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nine struggling a bit here. Nine tries to buck Berger off but Berger is having none of it. Nine sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Berger seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nine does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nine is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Berger pulls his head out easily. Nine looking for submissions off his back. Nine punching from the bottom.
Berger looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nine with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Nine works his way to full guard. Good work. Berger landing some decent shots from guard. Berger knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nine on the ground. Nine kicks Berger off and gets to his feet. Nine looks winded! Berger pushes Nine up against the cage in a clinch. Nine is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Berger displaying some good clinch control by pressing Nine up against the cage. Berger's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Berger checks a low kick from Nine. Nine tries to land a body kick and Berger counters by clinching up. Berger leaning against his opponent.

It looks like Federico Berger has been cut. Berger blocks an elbow strike from Nine.
Berger could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nine working Berger over with knees to the body. Nine pushes off an throws an elbow but Berger leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Nice elbow from Nine. Berger is working for takedown but Nine is calmly controlling the position for now. Nine tries to land a knee to the head but Berger blocks with his arms.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Berger has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Nine avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Federico Berger. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nine with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Nine is trying to break the clinch but Berger has him pressed against the cage. Nine throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Nine is pressed up against the cage. Berger has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nine down to the mat. Nine avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Nine throws a head kick but Berger moves out of range.
As Nine tries to get set, Berger tries to push him back and clinch up but Nine manages to avoid the attempt. Berger darts in and clinches Nine up against the cage. Nine throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Nine is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Berger is defending well for now. Berger blocks the elbow strike.

Berger has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nine is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Berger gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Nine is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Berger pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. The fight moves into the clinch position. Nine misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Berger.
Berger gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nine makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nine. Nine looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Berger has picked Nine up and slammed him! Nine can't keep hold of the triangle and Berger manages to pass to side control! Nine looking for a sweep but Berger has passed into full mount! Oh no! Berger is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Nine is surviving well by controlling Berger's body position as best he can. Nine regains half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Tech Nine will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Federico Berger's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Berger gets in close and instigates a clinch. Nine tries to break the clinch but Berger is controlling the position. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Nine obliges. Nine lands a damaging elbow. Berger takes a knee right on the jaw!
Nine misses with a knee to the head. Nine with a knee to the head.
Berger takes an elbow to the temple. Nine with a knee to the head.
Nine with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Nine has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Nine landing knees to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nine is looking to break free of the clinch but Berger has double underhooks. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Berger decides to pull guard. Berger working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Nine has passed into half guard!
That's one minute gone in the round. Berger wants to get back to his feet.
Nine wants to work for an arm triangle but Berger is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Berger is looking for a sweep. Nine is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Berger might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Nine seems to be looking for submissions.
Nine is keen to just control but Berger is a slippery customer. Berger slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Nine is looking to work some ground and pound but Berger has wrist control. Nine trying to control but Berger is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Berger trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Nine won't allow Berger to sweep him here. Nine working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Berger is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Berger manages to pull guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nine accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Berger utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Nine wants to control from the top but Berger keeps moving. Berger doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Nine passes Berger's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Nine in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Berger tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Nine!
