Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Naozumi Akimoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Belanger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akimoto comes to the cage accompanied by AudioMachine - Assassin. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Naozumi Akimoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joe Belanger! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Belanger throws a head kick that misses. Belanger throws a leg kick which misses Akimoto's front leg but catches the back leg as Akimoto tries to avoid it. Belanger goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
It looks like Naozumi Akimoto has been cut. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Belanger.
Akimoto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Belanger is fending him off so far but Akimoto persists. Nope, Belanger circles away and we're back to standing. Belanger tries a head kick but it misses.
Belanger throws a shot from downtown. Akimoto moves away and avoids it. Belanger keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Akimoto closes the distance and clinches up with Belanger, looking for a takedown. Akimoto pushes Belanger against the cage but Belanger circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Crunch! Belanger slams his shin into Akimoto's torso. Akimoto is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Belanger throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. A solid body kick from Belanger. Akimoto blocks a head kick by Belanger.
Belanger throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Belanger sizes up Akimoto with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Akimoto takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Belanger lets loose with a powerful body kick. Akimoto will feel that in the morning. Belanger throws a body kick that misses. A decent looking body kick lands there for Belanger. Belanger misses with a jab, cross combination.
Belanger throws a half hearted mid kick. Nice defenses there by Akimoto. Akimoto shoots in but Belanger avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Naozumi Akimoto. That's going to take a lot out of him. Belanger pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Akimoto wants to clinch. Belanger misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Akimoto avoids the head kick by Belanger.
Akimoto looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Belanger! Akimoto can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Belanger is looking to escape. Belanger taking shots to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Akimoto trying to control but Belanger is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Belanger is in all sorts of trouble here.
Akimoto putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Akimoto landing punches. Akimoto moves to back control. Akimoto has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Belanger's body.
Akimoto throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Akimoto lands punches and elbows. Belanger wants to control his opponent's hands but Akimoto gets his hands free. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Akimoto missing with strikes. Akimoto looking for the choke but no joy. Belanger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Akimoto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Akimoto looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Belanger taps!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Naozumi Akimoto!
