PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinjoi Takeoi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenshin Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shinjoi Takeoi looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinjoi Takeoi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenshin Suzuki!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takeoi takes a kick to the side of the head.

Suzuki moves into the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Suzuki wants to get back to his feet but Takeoi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Takeoi takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Suzuki moves into range and clinches up with Takeoi.
Takeoi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Suzuki avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Suzuki is pressed up against the cage. Takeoi has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Suzuki down to the mat. Suzuki avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shinjoi Takeoi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Suzuki forces Takeoi back against the cage and clinches.

Suzuki drags the fight down to the ground.
Takeoi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Suzuki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Suzuki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Takeoi's guard.

Suzuki tries to free his leg and advance position but Takeoi is retaining full guard.
Takeoi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Suzuki wants to control from the top but Takeoi keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Suzuki decides to stand and escape the position.
Suzuki lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Kenshin Suzuki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Takeoi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Suzuki manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Takeoi has Suzuki in his guard.

Suzuki slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Takeoi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Suzuki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Takeoi wants to get back to full guard but Suzuki has mounted him!
Suzuki tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
BOOM! Suzuki connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Takeoi is looking to improve his position but Suzuki isn't that keen on the idea.
Takeoi is working hard here to advance position.

Suzuki is going olschool here, as he tries to force Takeoi to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Takeoi shrugs it off.
Suzuki prevents Takeoi from getting the reversal.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Suzuki wants to control the pace but Takeoi is squirming around nicely.
Takeoi is trying desperately to improve position.
Kenshin Suzuki is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kenshin Suzuki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Suzuki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
