Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ira Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amr Al As (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wright kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Get Back. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ira Wright!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Amr Al As!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al As misses with a right hand
and Wright counters with a nice body kick.
Wright lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Wright displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Al As throws out the jab.
Al As keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Wright.
Nice cross by Wright.
A lazy body kick from Wright
and Al As makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Al As goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Al As delivers a nice body kick.
Al As throws the kick towards the body but Wright avoids it.
Al As pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Al As looks to throw a body kick
and Wright counters with a straight right hand.
Al As throws a body shot but no joy.
Wright throws a hook but Al As avoids it easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Al As uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wright.
Al As scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wright throws out a loose jab but Al As uses good head movement to avoid it.
That kick from Al As tenderised Wright's leg. Wright is trying to keep his angry face on.
Wright throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Al As sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Amr Al As seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A bone on bone clash there as Al As blocks the leg kick.
Al As connects with a solid leg kick.
Al As tries to clinch but Wright moves out of range.

Al As fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wright, pushing him back against the ropes.
Al As stalling in the clinch but Wright improves position.
Al As misses with the head strike.
Still in the clinch, Wright scores with a nice short uppercut.

Wright manages to break the clinch.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Al As.
Al As misses the jab.
Wright throws a push kick but Al As slaps the foot to one side.

Al As has taken the fight to the clinch.
Al As misses with the head strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wright blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A short left from Wright.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A shot in the inside from Wright.

Al As breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wright jabs Al As right on the nose. Al As blinks but takes it well.
Al As staying out of range there.
Al As is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Al As moves away from the strike by Wright.
Wright throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Al As stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Wright darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Wright thows a left - swing and a miss!
Al As throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wright sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Al As misses with a double jab.
Wright slips a jab from Al As.
Al As misses with a body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Al As throws a body kick that misses
and Wright counters with a leg kick.
Wright connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Al As cracks the inside of Wright's front leg.
Al As throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Al As tries to clinch up but Wright circles away and keeps his distance.
Wright swats away the attempt to clinch by Al As.
Al As pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wright throws a chopping leg kick but Al As manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Al As avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Al As fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Nice cross by Wright.
Al As paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Al As is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wright lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Al As.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wright listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.


Al As is rocked!
Wright moves out of range of the leg kick from Al As.
Nice uppercut lands for Al As. That snapped Wright's head back.
Al As closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Al As is still on wobbly legs! Can Wright finish him?
Wright circles away from the clinch attempt.
Al As lands a front kick.
Al As seems to have recovered his senses.
Wright slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Al As doesn't manage to clinch there - Wright circles away.
Wright uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Al As.
Wright's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Al As connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Wright scrambles back to his feet.
Al As moves away from the strike by Wright.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ira Wright will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Wright walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Al As checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Al As counters with a body kick.
Wright takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.


It looks like Ira Wright has been cut.
Al As lands with a shot to the body.
Wright throws a leg kick but Al As sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Al As throws a leg kick but Wright checks it.
Al As takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Al As throws a sloppy head kick and Wright moves out of range easily.
Donk. Wright catches Al As right on the button with a cross.
Wright lands a nice shot to the body.
Wright circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Al As to the canvas! Al As doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Wright keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ira Wright!
Ira Wright retains his welterweight title!
A relieved looking Ira Wright thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
