Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Gombos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Neal Bob! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gombos fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bob looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Gombos misses the shot to the body. Bob lands with a slapping head kick. Bob throws the left hand but Gombos avoids the punch easily. Bob displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gombos throws out the jab. Gombos thuds a left hand into Bob's body. Gombos is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bob. Gombos looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Gombos avoids the body shot from Bob.
Gombos uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bob. Gombos drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bob sprawls and moves away. Bob throws a head kick that misses. Bob slips a jab from Gombos. Bob looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Bob connects with a crisp jab. Bob walks into a left hand. Bob slips a jab from Gombos. Bob throws a series of punches but Gombos moves out of range. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A shot to the liver by Gombos. Beautiful body shot. Gombos finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gombos cracks a nice hook into Bob's ribs. Bob checks a low kick from Gombos. Gombos misses the jab. Bob turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Gombos. Bob does a little dance to reset his feet. Bob walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. A punch combination from Bob misses. Bob is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Gombos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Bob keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Bob is trying to control but can't.
Gombos seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gombos tries to pass to full mount but Bob defends it. Gombos is keen to just control but Bob is a slippery customer. Bob is looking to improve his position.
Gombos seems to be working for a kimura but Bob defends the submission attempt. Bob wants to control the action here but instead Gombos manages to pass to full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bob taking shots to the head. Gombos fails to take his opponent's back. Gombos has hold of Bob's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Bob manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Bob wants to hold on but Gombos pushes him away. Bob sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Gombos wants to pass to mount but Bob is defending the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bob wants to get back to his feet.
Gombos trying to mount his opponent but Bob defends it. Bob felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Bob manages to get to full guard.

Dan Gombos dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Bob throws a shot from downtown. Gombos moves away and avoids it. Gombos throws an overhand right that lands on Bob's shoulder, as Bob tries to avoid the shot. Bob misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bob throws a body punch but Gombos moves out of range. Bob misses with a looping right. A head kick misses from Bob. Gombos appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Gombos lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bob checks a leg kick. Gombos uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Gombos bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Bob's head backwards. Bob scores with a slapping inside leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gombos scores with a crisp jab that stopped Bob in his tracks. Gombos throws a hook but Bob blocks it. Bob doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Gombos throws a hook to the side of Bob's head but Bob sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Gombos cracks Bob with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Bob throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gombos motions for Bob to come forward. Gombos throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Gombos blocks a head kick by Bob.
Dan Gombos is winning the standup battle so far. Bob throws a looping overhand right but Gombos ducks down to avoid it. Gombos misses with an uppercut. Bob saw that one coming. Gombos scores with a decent looking hook. Bob checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Bob throws a looping overhand right but Gombos ducks down to avoid it. Dan Gombos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gombos throws a hook but Bob blocks it. Gombos blocks a head kick by Bob.
Gombos misses the jab. Bob on the wrong end of a nice jab. A shot to the liver by Gombos. Beautiful body shot. Gombos throws an off balance right hand
and Bob counters with a slapping leg kick. Gombos does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Gombos is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bob can do to turn this around? Gombos attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gombos misses with an uppercut. Bob saw that one coming. Bob looks to throw the jab but Gombos is out of range. Gombos lands with a good body shot. Bob ducks right into an uppercut from Gombos. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gombos throws a body shot but no joy. Gombos throws out a loose jab but Bob uses good head movement to avoid it. Gombos scoring well with a low kick there.
Neal Bob is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A telegraphed right hand from Bob misses the target. Gombos lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Bob takes a swing at Gombos's ribcage but misses. Gombos sizes up Bob with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. A head kick misses from Bob. Gombos changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Donk. Gombos catches Bob right on the button with a cross. Bob scores with a punch to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gombos scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Bob throws a big shot that misses. Bob on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Bob scores with a head kick.
Bob moves out of range of the strikes. Bob throws a nice looking combination but Gombos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Gombos slips a jab and a cross from Bob.
Gombos looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. A bone on bone clash there as Bob blocks the leg kick.
Nice shot by Gombos. Gombos fails with a takedown attempt. Gombos throws a body shot but no joy. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gombos is defended easily by Bob.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gombos loads up on a big right hand but Bob slips the punch. Bob misses with a head kick.
Bob walks into a jab. Bob throws a front kick aimed at Gombos's knee but Gombos avoids it well. As Bob looks to move away, Gombos throws a big counter combo but Bob just gets out of the way. Gombos throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. It seemed like Bob was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Gombos misses with a looping right. Bob swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. A looping hook to the body misses from Gombos. Bob does a little dance to reset his feet. Gombos lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
The fighters circle momentarily. Gombos darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Gombos tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Gombos dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Gombos misses the shot to the body. Gombos lands a lovely overhand right. Gombos scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Bob takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A decent looking cross lands there for Gombos. Bob misses with a straight left. Gombos throws a body shot but no joy. It seemed like Bob was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. A looping hook to the body misses from Bob. Gombos does a little dance to reset his feet. Bob throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Gombos fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Good standup being displayed there by Gombos as he connects with a hook. Bob on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Neal Bob has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bob misses with a straight left. Gombos feinted with a counter takedown. Bob dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Gombos throws a push kick but Bob slaps the foot to one side. Gombos misses with a low kick. Bob misses with a head kick.
Bob lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gombos circles away quickly and effectively. A jab lands there for Gombos. Gombos is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bob. Gombos throws a good cross that connects.

A clash of legs there as Bob blocks the low kick. Bob will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Bob tries to move into range but Gombos moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Bob looks to land a right hand but Gombos moved out of range. Bob cracks Gombos with a good jab. Bob throws a right and a left that Gombos avoids nicely. Bob has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Bob takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Gombos wants to land a leg kick but Bob is out of range. Bob looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Gombos ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Gombos takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Bob doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gombos uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bob.

A left and a right from Gombos both land. Nice combination. Bob staying out of range there.
And that's the end of the fight! Dan Gombos showed his dominance in that final round. Well Gombos has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
