Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Gary Sandusky! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Trudeau! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trudeau tries a head kick but it misses.
Sandusky fails with the takedown. Trudeau unleashes a big counter combination but Sandusky bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Sandusky changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Trudeau tries to avoid it but Sandusky manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Trudeau to the ground. Trudeau escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Sandusky moves into range and clinches up with Trudeau. Trudeau breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've been informed that Trudeau has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Trudeau throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sandusky. Trudeau takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Sandusky definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Sandusky shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Trudeau pinned against the cage. Trudeau gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gary Sandusky. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sandusky instigates a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sandusky looking to stall.
Trudeau on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Trudeau blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Trudeau lands an elbow inside. Trudeau looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Trudeau avoids the elbow strike from Sandusky, against the cage.
Trudeau breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sandusky moves into the clinch. Sandusky wants to get back to striking at distance but Trudeau won't allow it.
Trudeau has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sandusky avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Sandusky tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A frustrated look appears on Sandusky's face as he tries to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trudeau escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Trudeau fails with the takedown and Sandusky counters with a nice double leg into side control. Trudeau won't be happy with that. Trudeau bucks up and tries to throw Sandusky off but instead Sandusky has got his back! Trudeau looks winded! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sandusky is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Trudeau really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sandusky. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sandusky is landing with strikes from the back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sandusky scores with punches to the body. Sandusky is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Trudeau is tapping out! This one is all over!
