Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billie Bates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Douma May!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from May both land. Nice combination.
May shoots in but no luck this time.

Bates closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Bates is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

May is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bates looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks May with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bates connects with a nice short shot to May's temple.

May is still in real trouble! Can Bates finish him?
Bates scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Bates lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bates lands a nice short elbow.
May wants to stand back up but Bates manages to pass into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bates in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Bates is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but May is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Bates stands up and we're back to a striking position.

A momentary lapse in concentration from May enables Bates to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. May manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bates might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bates postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bates lands a couple of digs.

Bates thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bates is stalling in the full guard.
Bates gets to his feet and stands over May, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! May felt that one! Bates unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save May from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Billie Bates!
Douma May spoke after the fight, saying 'I don't have anything to say after losing.My opponent is very good'.
