Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Monroe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arnold Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monroe comes to the cage accompanied by Deep Ocean - Island drumming. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
16 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricky Monroe!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arnold Palmer!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmer thows a left - swing and a miss!
Palmer misses with an uppercut.
Monroe closes this distance looking for a takedown but Palmer circles away.
Monroe uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Palmer.
Monroe throws a head kick that misses.
Monroe decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Palmer has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Monroe is on him like a limpet, forcing Palmer back against the cage.

Monroe jumps guard but Palmer turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Monroe jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Palmer walks away with a smile on his face. Monroe gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Monroe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Monroe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Palmer as he jumps to the side.
Palmer throws a hook to the side of Monroe's head but Monroe sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Monroe is looking to counter the offense by Palmer and move into the clinch.

Monroe closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Palmer did well to prevent Monroe getting side control.

Monroe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Palmer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Palmer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Palmer wants it to stay on the feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Monroe's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Monroe shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Palmer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Monroe postures up in Palmer's guard and throws a big left but Palmer blocks it.

Palmer wants to stand up but Monroe is controlling him.

Palmer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monroe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Monroe has gone for a leg lock! Palmer slips out almost immediately though and dives into Monroe's guard.
Palmer is still in real trouble! Can Monroe finish him?
Monroe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Palmer seems to have recovered his senses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Palmer is trying to stand up here but Monroe is controlling him well.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Monroe thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Palmer's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
