Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Flare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Flare is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, John Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, John Flare! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flare looks to land a right hand but Smith moved out of range. Flare tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range. Flare gets caught flat footed, as Smith shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Smith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Smith preventing the sweep. Smith wants to control from the top but Flare keeps moving. Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Flare on the ground. Flare working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Smith has passed into half guard!
Smith is keen to just control but Flare is a slippery customer. Flare is trying to get back to full guard. Flare is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Smith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Flare is just riding it out for now. Smith eventually gives up the hold.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Flare doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Flare looks to land a combination but Smith avoids it well. Flare wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance. Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Flare tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Flare manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Flare jabs at Smith's body. Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Smith fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith. Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Flare. Flare thows a body shot but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Flare circles away. Smith takes a jab right on the kisser.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Flare shows good takedown defense. Smith is breathing heavily. Jab from Flare. Flare stuffs the takedown. Nice takedown defense from Flare. No joy for Smith on that attempt. Flare misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Smith.

Flare scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Flare. Flare pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smith shoots in and drives through. Flare sprawls well. A head kick misses from Flare. Smith shoots in and drives through. Flare sprawls well. Flare tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Nice sprawl there from Flare as Smith shoots in. Flare connects with a looping right hand.
Smith takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Flare dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Nice uppercut there from Flare. Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Flare has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Flare throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Smith trying to control but Flare is working from the bottom. Flare working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Flare is breathing heavily. Flare keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.

Smith slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Smith is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Flare has escaped the position, nice work there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Smith is trying to get an arm triangle but Flare is defending well. Smith thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Flare is looking for a sweep. Smith trying to control the position but Flare is working away. Flare is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Smith off and has taken his back! Smith preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Flare.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith breaks Flare's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Flare is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smith lands a couple of elbows. Flare looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Smith has picked Flare up and slammed him! Flare can't keep hold of the triangle and Smith manages to pass to side control! Smith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Flare is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Flare is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Smith is trying to get an arm triangle but Flare is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Flare, who protects the arm well. Flare tries to get back to half guard but can't. Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Smith looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but John Flare will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Flare's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Flare takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Flare knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Flare regains half guard. Smith is controlling the pace.
Smith working over Flare with some ground and pound. Flare looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Smith takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Smith is working for a submission of some sort.
Flare actively working from the bottom here. Flare tries to get to full guard but Smith has control of the leg. Smith wants to control but Flare is keeping him busy. Flare looking for submissions off his back. Smith is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith seems to be looking for submissions.
John Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Smith misses with a takedown attempt and Flare counters with a stiff right hand. Flare scores with a nice right hand.

Smith shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Flare counters with a nice uppercut. Flare connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Smith misses with a takedown letting Flare counter with a right hand. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Flare throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
John Flare is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Smith tries for a takedown but Flare circles away easily and Flare counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Smith. I think Flare has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
