Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Miz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Stevens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlos Miz! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevens clinches. Miz tries to score a body lock takedown but Stevens shows good agility there to stay on his feet. A bit of stalling here from Stevens.
Stevens is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Stevens tries to land knees in the clinch but Miz avoids the damage to the body. Miz drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Stevens throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Miz blocks it with crossed arms. Stevens trying to stall but Miz improves his position.
Miz has Stevens pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Stevens manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Ryan Stevens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Miz. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stevens crunches a lovely knee into Miz's ribcage. Miz turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Stevens is trying to get back to his feet. Miz is working Stevens over with some ground and pound from side control. Miz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Stevens takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevens pushes Miz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Miz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Miz taking a breather here. Miz working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
A lull in the action here. Miz tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Miz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Stevens has escaped the position, nice work there. Stevens wants to get back to his feet but Miz is dominant here and he's now got Stevens's back! Miz controlling the position well here. Stevens rolled but Miz kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Stevens is trying to get back to his feet but Miz has full control of the position and if anything, Stevens has just worked his way into a worse spot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Miz is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Stevens knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Stevens for a finish. Stevens is trying to get back to his feet but Miz has full control of the position and if anything, Stevens has just worked his way into a worse spot. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Miz lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stevens trying to get back to his feet but Miz is in full control for now. Miz is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Stevens is defending well though. Miz let's go of the attempt for now. Stevens is trying to stand back up.

Miz lands a shot to the body. Miz is looking to control Stevens but Stevens is wriggling around and keeping busy. Miz punches Stevens on the ear. Miz really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Stevens.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevens trying to get back to his feet but Miz is in full control for now. Stevens showing good submission defense here.
Miz throwing wild punches that miss their target. Miz is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Stevens knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Stevens for a finish. Stevens is trying to stand back up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Miz controls the position. Stevens fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Miz has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Stevens pushes Miz up against the cage in a clinch. Stevens escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Stevens displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Miz. Stevens misses with the combination.
Stevens scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Miz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stevens looks to clinch and Miz counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Stevens is trying to escape back to his feet but Miz uses the scramble to pass into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action! Stevens is pushing Miz's head away, looking to escape. Miz manages to hold on to the position though. Miz tries to advance to mount but Stevens denies him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miz cracks Stevens with an elbow. That is naaassty. Miz trying to control the action but Stevens is working from the bottom. Carlos Miz has got the better of the ground game so far. Miz prevents Stevens from escaping the position. Miz working the ground and pound. Stevens is trying to get back to his feet. Miz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Stevens wants to get back to his feet. Stevens is not content to let Miz control the position. Miz creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Miz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stevens, who protects the arm well. Miz working the ground and pound from side control. Miz trying to control the position but Stevens is working away. Stevens is trying to get back to his feet. Stevens takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Stevens is letting Miz control him for a moment. Stevens is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Miz has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevens on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Stevens is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Miz has just dragged him back down to the mat. A lull in the action here. Stevens bucks up and tries to throw Miz off but instead Miz has got his back! Stevens is trying to get back to his feet but Miz has full control of the position and if anything, Stevens has just worked his way into a worse spot. Miz landing with strikes. Good control from Miz. Miz is landing with strikes. Stevens can't take much more of this. A bit of a pause in the action here. Miz controlling the positon. Miz looking to break Stevens's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Stevens remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Miz will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Stevens is trying to stand back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Miz is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Stevens up.
Good control from Miz. Stevens is trying to shake Miz off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Miz won't be happy about giving up the dominant position. Miz swats away the attempt to clinch by Stevens. Danga de danga de dang - Stevens scores with a four punch combination! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Miz circles away from the clinch attempt.
Stevens tries to bum rush Miz with a series of wild strikes but Miz uses good footwork to avoid the assault. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Carlos Miz will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Stevens slaps away a takedown attempt from Miz, before circling back to the center of the mat. Stevens is looking to clinch but Miz is avoiding it.
Stevens lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Stevens. Miz takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Miz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Miz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Miz makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Miz working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Stevens's head. Miz stops Stevens from standing up. Miz postures up and lands a big shot to Stevens's brow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Miz sitting in guard here, content to control. Stevens pushes Miz off and scrambles back to his feet.
Stevens looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Miz swats away the attempt to clinch by Stevens. Ryan Stevens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ryan Stevens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. The fighters circle momentarily. Stevens darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Ryan Stevens is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Miz closes the distance and clinches up with Stevens, looking for a takedown. Miz pushes Stevens against the cage but Stevens circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Miz. Ryan Stevens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Miz. Stevens throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Stevens throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Miz's head. Miz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stevens sprawls well initially but Miz persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Stevens tries to kick Miz off in order to stand up. Miz Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Stevens tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Miz lands shots from the back. Miz lands with a hammerfist to the side of Stevens's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Miz looking to break Stevens's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Stevens remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Miz will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Stevens wants to get back to his feet. Miz has good solid back control here. Let's hope that Miz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Stevens is trying to stand back up. Miz working for the choke. Stevens is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevens tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Stevens displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Miz. Miz avoids the head kick by Stevens.
Miz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stevens to the mat! Stevens manages to get full guard. Stevens is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Miz is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. A battle for position here, against the cage. Stevens throws an elbow but it misses.
Miz turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Stevens is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miz lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Stevens down.

Stevens being controlled for a moment. Carlos Miz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Miz tries for a kimura but Stevens is defending well.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ryan Stevens. I think Miz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
