And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maddox Wood!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.


It looks like Matej Batinic has been cut.
Batinic avoids the head kick by Wood.
Batinic tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Wood manages to circle out of the way.
Batinic walks into a stiff left hand from Wood.
Wood swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Batinic counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Wood!

Batinic cracks Wood with a big right hand but Wood just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wood has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Holding Cell. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Batinic thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Batinic throws a strike but Wood manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Batinic tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Maddox Wood!
A relieved looking Maddox Wood thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
