Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dominick Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pearse Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thompson comes to the cage accompanied by 50 Cent: I Get Money. Dominick Thompson has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mullen has closed the distance and engaged Thompson in a clinch.

Mullen breaks the clinch.
Mullen misses with a two punch combination.

Thompson gets tackled into the cage by Mullen. Mullen maintains the clinch.
Thompson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Mullen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Thompson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mullen defends it nicely.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Thompson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Mullen tries to roll over but Thompson keeps him under control.
Thompson is looking to take a break and control but Mullen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Thompson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mullen felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Thompson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Thompson thows a huge punch but Mullen dodges it nicely.
Mullen wants to improve his position but Thompson is controlling well.
Thompson is keen to just control but Mullen is a slippery customer.

Thompson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mullen is looking to reverse the position.
Mullen wants to control but Thompson postures up.

Thompson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Thompson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Thompson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The strikes coming from Thompson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Mullen takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Mullen managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Thompson.

Thompson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mullen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Thompson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Mullen is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Thompson yanks on the arm and Mullen is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Thompson.
