Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sherman Burks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Locker Arm! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.

and Arm counters with a shoot takedown. Burks fights it but they end up in guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Arm passes Burks's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Arm is working for a submission of some sort.
Burks is looking to get back to is feet but Arm passes into side control.
Arm goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Burks has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Arm but great work by Burks. Burks could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Arm sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Arm taking some punishment here, with Burks in his half guard. Burks tries to stand and escape but Arm is controlling the position. Arm moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Burks accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Arm preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Burks throwing strikes from guard but Arm blocks nicely. Arm working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Burks. Burks works over Arm with some ground and pound from guard. Burks lands a couple of digs. Arm pulls Burks in close to prevent any damage. Burks wants to get up but he can't break Arm's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Arm seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Arm controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Burks really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill... Arm stops Burks from standing up. Arm sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Burks's guard. Burks punching from the bottom.
Burks is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Arm has latched onto it... Big trouble! Arm pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Burks is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Arm!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Locker Arm!
