Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sparring Fighter 1 (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fighter 1 comes into the arena with Lou Reed - The day John Kennedy Died blaring out of the sound system. Volkov has chosen Major Lazer & DJ Snake - Lean On (feat. MØ) as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sparring Fighter 1! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Volkov! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good work by Volkov as he checks the leg kick. Fighter 1 has closed the distance and engaged Volkov in a clinch.
Fighter 1 can't find room to land a body shot as Volkov controls the action.
Fighter 1 tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Fighter 1 lands a left hand.
Fighter 1 scores with an uppercut up the middle. Fighter 1 lands a shot to the body. Fighter 1 escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fighter 1 tries for a takedown but Volkov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Fighter 1 tries to close the distance and clinch but Volkov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Fighter 1 tries to clinch up. Volkov with the counter takedown but Fighter 1 avoids it easily. The fight moves into the clinch position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fighter 1 lands a knee to the head.
It looks like Alexander Volkov has been cut. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Nice elbow from Fighter 1. Fighter 1 throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Volkov blocks it with crossed arms. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Fighter 1 pushes Volkov back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fighter 1 throws a knee to the head but misses.
Fighter 1 breaks the clinch.
Volkov shoots in and drives through. Fighter 1 sprawls well. Fighter 1 blocks a jab. Fighter 1 connects with a high kick. Fighter 1 walks into a straight right hand from Volkov. Sparring Fighter 1 seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Volkov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fighter 1 manages to avoid it. Volkov misses with an uppercut. Fighter 1 saw that one coming. Volkov throws a nice looking combination but Fighter 1 bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Fighter 1 is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Fighter 1 changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Volkov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Fighter 1 stands up and beckons Volkov to his feet. Volkov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Volkov keeps the fight on the outside.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A chopping leg kick lands by Fighter 1. Fighter 1 shoots for a takedown but Volkov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Fighter 1 clinches up with Volkov and pushes him back against the cage. Fighter 1 pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Fighter 1 gets in close and instigates a clinch. Fighter 1 manages to break the clinch.
Fighter 1 moves into range and clinches up with Volkov. Volkov stalling the fight.
Fighter 1 misses with a knee to the head. Fighter 1 manages to break the clinch.
Volkov avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Fighter 1 fails in his attempt to clinch. Volkov with the counter takedown but Fighter 1 avoids it easily. Fighter 1 darts in looking for a takedown but Volkov gets double underhooks and turns Fighter 1 into the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sparring Fighter 1. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fighter 1 uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Volkov. Fighter 1 tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Volkov paws at him with a jab and circles away. A swing and a miss from Volkov. Fighter 1 seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Volkov lands an overhand right.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fighter 1 tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Volkov throws a hook to the side of Fighter 1's head but Fighter 1 sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Fighter 1 tries to clinch up but Volkov circles away and keeps his distance. Volkov throws the left hand but Fighter 1 avoids the punch easily. Fighter 1 is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Fighter 1 fails in his attempt to clinch. Excellent takedown into side control there by Fighter 1. Volkov is looking to reverse the position. Fighter 1 decides to stand back up. Fighter 1 steps back and let's Volkov get back to his feet. Fighter 1 closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Fighter 1 swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Fighter 1 lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Fighter 1 escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fighter 1 rushes Volkov and presses him up against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A short right from Fighter 1 on the inside. This has been an exciting period of action! An uppercut to the body lands inside from Fighter 1. Fighter 1 breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Fighter 1 avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Fighter 1 is looking to counter punch. Fighter 1 walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Nice shot by Volkov. Fighter 1 fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Fighter 1 closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Volkov to the mat! Volkov manages to get full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fighter 1 controlling from the top position. Fighter 1 avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Fighter 1 is posturing up here but Volkov has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Fighter 1 tries to roll out but it's too tight and Fighter 1 has to tap! Slick submission there by Volkov!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Alexander Volkov! A relieved looking Alexander Volkov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. The defeated Sparring Fighter 1 had this to say: 'I'm still standing here, so you apparently didn't accomplish your goal.'.
