PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Travis Jaeger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Locke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Locke is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Star Wars - Imperial March. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Jaeger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Locke!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Chad Campbell and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Locke closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jaeger to the mat! Jaeger manages to get full guard.

Locke is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Locke tries to free his leg and advance position but Jaeger is retaining full guard.

Jaeger looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Jaeger is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jaeger had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Locke is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jaeger Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Locke's back instead.
Locke rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Locke is trying to get back to full guard.
Jaeger knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Locke on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Locke is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Locke shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Locke looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jaeger with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jaeger avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Locke.

Locke is looking for a kimura but Jaeger is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Locke to get the leverage.
Jaeger keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Locke thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jaeger's head.
Locke thows a huge punch but Jaeger dodges it nicely.
Jaeger is looking to improve his position.
Jaeger wants to control but Locke is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Locke has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Jaeger defend it? Locke steps over the head and cranks it - Jaeger is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Locke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Locke!
