Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luke Pugh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Luke Pugh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matt Griffin! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pugh slips a jab and a cross from Griffin.
Pugh really is a fat lump. Pugh blocks a head kick by Griffin.
It appears Pugh was looking to counter with a kick there. Griffin misses with a two punch combination.
Pugh closes the distance and pushes Griffin back into the cage. Griffin is pressed up against the cage. Pugh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Griffin down to the mat. Griffin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Pugh closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Griffin to the mat! Griffin manages to get full guard. Pugh stands up and waves to Griffin to follow him. Griffin is looking to slow Pugh down with leg kicks. Pugh gets a takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pugh is looking for a kimura but Griffin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pugh to get the leverage. Pugh prevents Griffin from improving his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pugh working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Griffin keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Pugh decides to stand up. Griffin throws a combination that misses and Pugh counters with a nice double leg into side control. Griffin won't be happy with that. Griffin is looking to get back to his feet here but Pugh is keeping cool and he's managed to take Griffin's back. Pugh has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Griffin has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Pugh is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Griffin won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Pugh off his unconscious opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Luke Pugh!
