Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz looks to land a combination. Pope sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Pope drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Cruz wants to get back to his feet but Pope is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pope working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cruz's head.
Cruz is looking to stand back up but Pope counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Cruz.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pope looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Pope is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cruz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pope.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pope is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cruz sees it coming and defends easily.
Cruz has hold of Pope's hands but Pope slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Cruz is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pope scores with a couple of nice shots.
Cruz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pope. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cruz is trying to escape back to his feet but Pope uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Pope has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pope wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cruz, who protects the arm well.
Cruz tries to escape but Pope is in control.

Pope is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cruz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Pope cracks Cruz with a big right hand but Cruz just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cruz tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Cruz.
Pope walks forward, straight into a front kick from Cruz.
Cruz throws a series of strikes that have Pope backpedaling.
Cruz throws a sloppy head kick and Pope moves out of range easily.
Cruz goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Pope closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pope is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cruz can do to turn this around?
Pope blocks an elbow strike from Cruz.
Cruz misses with a short punch on the inside.

Pope breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pope steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Cruz. That one must have hurt.
Cruz tries to bum rush Pope with a series of wild strikes but Pope uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cruz scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Crunch! Cruz slams his shin into Pope's torso.
Pope avoids the head kick by Cruz.
Pope appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Cruz works over Pope's head and body with a nice combination.
Pope dives in for a single leg takedown but Cruz sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cruz is pawing at Pope, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Pope's nose. Pope is badly hurt! Cruz pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Pope tries desperately to hold on but Cruz is relentless in his assault! As Pope receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Cruz away and this one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brandon Cruz!
