Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jody Cohen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simhadri Chinni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jody Cohen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simhadri Chinni!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Columbo Gatti and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Chinni misses
and Cohen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Chinni ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Chinni shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chinni showed some decent athleticism there.
Cohen is looking to improve his position.

Chinni looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cohen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chinni is working away from the top position though.

Chinni not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Cohen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chinni pulls his head out easily.

Cohen with the active half guard here but Chinni passes nicely into side control.
Cohen is looking for a sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cohen wants to control but Chinni postures up.
Chinni cracks Cohen with a big elbow.
Cohen trying his best to control but Chinni has mounted him.
Chinni tries to control but Cohen wriggling away.
Chinni looking to control and managing it successfully.
The referee warns Cohen that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Cohen is squirming around, avoiding Chinni's attempts to control the action.
Cohen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chinni on the ground.
Chinni lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Chinni gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Chinni tries to clinch but Cohen moves out of range.
Cohen half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Chinni throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Cohen holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Cohen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Chinni has him pressed against the cage.
Cohen lands with a left to the head.
Cohen fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Chinni has Cohen pressed against the cage, preventing Cohen from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Cohen is trying to break the clinch but Chinni is controlling him.

Cohen lands a shoulder strike.

Chinni gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cohen regains guard.

Cohen uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chinni tries to clinch there but Cohen circles away.

Chinni drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chinni wants to control from the top but Cohen keeps moving.

Chinni stands and steps away. Cohen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Cohen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chinni.

Chinni throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cohen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Chinni is in Cohen's guard.
Cohen is breathing heavily.
Chinni looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Chinni stopping the sweep attempt from Cohen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simhadri Chinni dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Chinni drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Simhadri Chinni has got the better of the ground game so far.
Cohen manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Cohen not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Chinni is trying to control but can't.
Cohen is keen to just control but Chinni is a slippery customer.

Cohen is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Chinni has managed to free his arm - good work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chinni tries to get to full guard but Cohen has control of the leg.

Chinni slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Cohen preventing the sweep.

Cohen decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Chinni, up you get!
Simhadri Chinni is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Chinni lands with a thumping leg kick.
Simhadri Chinni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cohen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice jab there from Cohen.
Cohen takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chinni looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
It looked like Cohen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Cohen moves into the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Cohen tries to land knees in the clinch but Chinni avoids the damage to the body.
Cohen is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Chinni is defending well for now.

Chinni has Cohen pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Chinni pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cohen tumbling to the mat - Chinni dives into Cohen's guard.
Chinni is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cohen trying to strike off his back.
Chinni is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Chinni forces his way into half guard.
Cohen taking some punishment here, with Chinni in his half guard.

Chinni decides to stand up.

Cohen gets caught napping as Chinni dives in and scores a takedown. Cohen manages to retain guard.

Cohen uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Chinni throws a sloppy head kick and Cohen moves out of range easily.
Chinni tries to clinch but Cohen moves away
and Cohen counters with a straight right hand.
Chinni throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Cohen counters with a nice uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cohen tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Chinni counters with a left and a right that stings Cohen.


Cohen is rocked!

Chinni gets a big slam - oh, Cohen is out! Cohen is out! That's a nasty KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Simhadri Chinni!
