PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stu Pidaso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timur Umarov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Umarov is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rizavdi Ismailov - Vpered Akhmat. The key to victory for Stu Pidaso has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stu Pidaso !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Timur Umarov!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pidaso shoots in for a double leg but Umarov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pidaso dives in and grabs Umarov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Umarov pushes down on Pidaso 's head and hops out.
Umarov unleashes a big counter combination but Pidaso bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Pidaso shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Umarov counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stu Pidaso . That's going to take a lot out of him.

Umarov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Umarov lands a couple of digs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pidaso wants to get back to his feet but Umarov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Umarov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pidaso is looking to regain half guard here but Umarov keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pidaso has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Umarov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Umarov holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Umarov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pidaso gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pidaso passes Umarov's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pidaso thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Umarov's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Timur Umarov will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Pidaso shoots in but Umarov avoids the takedown attempt easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pidaso enables Umarov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pidaso manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Pidaso is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Umarov is controlling him.
Umarov distracts Pidaso with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Umarov lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Umarov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Umarov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Umarov forces his way into half guard.
Pidaso is looking to escape.
Pidaso wants to control but Umarov passes into side.
Pidaso tries to bench press Umarov off him but Umarov keeps the position.

Umarov has an Americana. Pidaso didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Umarov is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Umarov hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Timur Umarov!
