PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Chester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Publius Sestius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Chester has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Chester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Publius Sestius!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chester looks to land a combination but Sestius avoids it well.
Chester takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


It looks like John Chester has been cut.
Sestius is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chester.
Chester misses with a two punch combination.
Chester seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Sestius throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sestius tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chester swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Chester throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sestius's waist but Sestius gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chester off to one side.
It seemed like Sestius was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Chester shoots in looking for a takedown but Sestius manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Chester's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sestius displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Chester.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Chester. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chester dives in and grabs Sestius's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sestius pushes down on Chester's head and hops out.

Chester throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sestius was covering up waiting for the punch and Chester finishes the takedown easily into guard.

A relieved looking Publius Sestius thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
