PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Demarte Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Sea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Pena might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Mesmo Assim. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Demarte Pena!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Sea!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pena fails with a takedown attempt.
Pena shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sea pinned against the cage. Sea gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Pena gets a takedown into half guard.
Pena prevents Sea from improving his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sea is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Sea is trying to get back to full guard.
Pena takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pena winds up and cracks Sea with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Pena has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Pena wants to take a breather but Sea is having none of it.
Pena will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sea wants to control but Pena is keeping busy.

Pena is keen to just control but Sea is a slippery customer.
Sea wants to improve his position but Pena is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sea is looking for a sweep. Pena is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pena thows a huge punch but Sea dodges it nicely.
Sea tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Sea is trying to maintain the position but Pena is very close to passing his half guard.
Pena is looking to take a break and control but Sea is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Pena controlling the pace.
Sea wants to control but Pena is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Pena shoots in for a double leg but Sea sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Demarte Pena. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pena doesn't manage to clinch there - Sea circles away.
Pena fails to land the takedown.
Pena closes the distance and clinches up with Sea, looking for a takedown. Pena pushes Sea against the cage but Sea circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Pena goes for a double leg but Sea avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sea continues to drive forward.
Pena shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sea as he jumps to the side.
Sea throws a body shot but no joy.
Sea shoots in for a double leg but Pena sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Pena shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sea is trying to defend but Pena finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sea has hold of Pena's hands but Pena slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Pena is trying to control. Sea wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Sea is looking to improve his position.

Pena is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sea defends it well.
Pena looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Sea trying to control here.
Sea works his way to full guard. Good work.
Pena wants to control from the top but Sea keeps moving.
Sea doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Pena throws a big elbow that misses.
Pena has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sea looking for a sweep. Not yet Sea, not yet.
Pena trying to control the position from guard on top but Sea is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sea should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sea is pulling down on Pena's head. It's preventing any offense from Pena, at least for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Demarte Pena will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Pena lands a nice hook to Sea's body. Sea takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Pena closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sea quickly recovers to half guard.
Sea is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sea is not content to let Pena control the position.

Pena performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pena seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Sea gets back to full guard.
Pena trying to control but Sea is working from the bottom.
Pena prevents Sea from getting back to his feet.
Pena stands up over Sea, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sea working for a triangle but Pena defends it easily.
Pena throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sea works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sea is on top in guard.

Pena is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pena looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sea is one step ahead there.
Pena has a closed guard, preventing Sea from standing up.

Pena is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pena throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Pena wants to control but Sea passes easily into half guard.
Pena flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Sea is keen to just control but Pena is a slippery customer.

Pena keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Pena wants to hold on but Sea pushes him away.

Pena manages to get to full guard.
Pena trying to control the position.
Sea is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pena striking off his back but it's not causing Sea any problems.

Sea with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jack Sea will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Sea gets tackled into the cage by Pena. Pena maintains the clinch.
Pena misses with a knee strike.
Pena has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sea is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Pena pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sea throws a combination. Pena tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Sea bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Sea is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pena is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Pena is trying to improve his position.

Sea working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Pena tries to strike but it doesn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pena wants to control but Sea postures up.
Demarte Pena overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pena is trying to get back to his feet.
Sea working away.
Pena is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Sea off and has taken his back!
Sea's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling Pena's hands.
Pena missing with strikes.
Pena keeps control of the position as Sea tries to break free.

Pena is looking to control Sea but Sea is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Sea trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Pena cracks Sea with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Sea from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

The referee is taking a good look at Sea as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Pena!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Sea's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Pena is striking off his back. Sea thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Pena looking for subs from the bottom but Sea mounts him!
Pena is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Sea lands a heavy elbow.
Pena is trying to escape the mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jack Sea.
I think Sea has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
