Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Rome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thomas Kingston!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rome fails with a takedown attempt.
Kingston shoots in and drives through. Rome sprawls well.
Rome half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Kingston misses with a looping left.
Rome changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Rome gets the takedown into side control.
Kingston is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Rome trying to control the action but Kingston is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rome is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kingston knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kingston tries to bench press Rome off him but Rome keeps the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kingston is looking to reverse the position.

Rome in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Rome trying to control the action but Kingston is working from the bottom.
Rome tries to move into full mount but can't pass Kingston's legs.
Kingston is looking to reverse the position.
Rome lands a decent elbow from side control.
Kingston tries to control but Rome manages to take his back.

Kingston prevents Rome from getting a body triangle.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rome is not going to allow Kingston to sit and survive in this position.
What can Kingston do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Rome's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Rome thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Rome is punishing Kingston with some ground and pound.

Rome patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Rome is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Kingston up.
Kingston breaks Rome's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Kingston showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Kingston trying to control but Rome is working from the bottom.
Kingston throws a big elbow that misses.
Kingston works over Rome with some ground and pound from guard.
Kingston postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Kingston stands and throws Rome's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Kingston is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rome has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rome is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kingston off and has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Rome dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Rome displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kingston.

And Kingston tries to counter it with a takedown but Rome pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Rome keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kingston.
Rome appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rome.
Kingston catches Rome with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rome slips a straight right by Kingston.
Rome misses with a wild body shot.
Kingston moves forwards but Rome connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Rome misses with a takedown attempt - Kingston sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Rome. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kingston shoots in but no luck this time.
Rome appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Rome throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kingston was covering up waiting for the punch and Rome finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kingston trying to keep a closed guard but Rome is proving a slippery customer.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kingston holds on and takes a little breather.
Rome with a flurry of punches that miss.
Rome scoring with punches to the head and body.
Jake Rome overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rome content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Rome stopping the sweep attempt from Kingston.
Rome wants to control from the top but Kingston keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rome being controlled here momentarily.
Kingston is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rome cracks Kingston with a solid left hand.

Rome connects with a couple of short punches.
Rome tries to free his leg and advance position but Kingston is retaining full guard.
Kingston wants to sweep here but Rome controlling him for the moment.
Rome wants to control from the top but Kingston keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Rome closes the distance and clinches up with Kingston, looking for a takedown. Rome pushes Kingston against the cage but Kingston circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kingston jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Rome throwing a counter right hand but Kingston manages to avoid it.
Kingston lands the left hand.

Kingston looking to score a takedown here. Rome is defending well but Kingston drives through and ends up in Rome's guard.

Kingston is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rome is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rome has escaped and now he's on top!

Rome controls from within his opponent's guard.
Kingston seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Rome throws a sloppy strike and Kingston has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Rome is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Kingston!

A very excited looking Thomas Kingston rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
