Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andy Foster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Santa Claus! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foster closes this distance looking for a takedown but Claus circles away. Foster shoots for a takedown but Claus saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Claus rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Foster moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Claus misses with a double jab.
A punch combination from Claus misses. Foster shoots in for a double leg but Claus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Foster. That's going to take a lot out of him. Claus misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Foster darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Foster is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Claus defends it well. Claus blocking the ground and pound attempt from Foster. Foster thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Foster is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Claus utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Foster trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Foster pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Claus is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Foster feints and as Claus raises his hands in defense, Foster changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Foster trying to move into half guard but instead Claus has managed to sweep! Foster throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Foster manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Claus tries to lock up and control but Foster gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Foster moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Claus has worked his arm free - good work by Claus!
Claus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Foster. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Foster decides to stand back up. Foster is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice combination there by Claus.
It looks like Andy Foster has been cut. Foster dodges the punch combination from Claus.
Claus moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Claus just misses with a punch to the body.
Claus scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Santa Claus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Foster checks a low kick from Claus. Claus throws a series of punches but Foster moves out of range. Foster takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Claus lands a lovely overhand right. Claus tries to bum rush Foster with a series of wild strikes but Foster uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Claus throws a series of punches but Foster moves out of range. Foster closes the distance and pushes Claus back into the cage. Foster has Claus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Claus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Claus throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Fosters head. Foster escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Claus takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Foster shoots in but no luck this time. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Foster. Claus throws a right and a left that both miss. A punch combination from Claus misses. Claus blocks a head kick by Foster.

It looks like Santa Claus has been cut. Foster looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Foster. That's going to take a lot out of him. Foster scores with a takedown into Claus's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Foster is pushing down on Claus's leg trying to pass to half guard. Claus is fighting to maintain full guard but Foster has managed to sneak the leg through. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Foster seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Foster lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Claus makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Claus. Claus keeping moving, preventing Foster from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Foster drops back, looking for a kneebar! Claus looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Claus looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Claus! Foster struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Foster sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Foster tries to get to full guard but Claus has control of the leg. Foster punching from the bottom.
Foster looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Foster is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Claus pulls his head out easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Foster looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Claus pushes past his half guard into mount! Claus trying to control but Foster is having none of it. Foster flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Foster is desperately trying to improve his position but Claus has a good base and remains in mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Foster swings around for an armbar but Claus sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Foster's guard. Foster can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Claus controls the pace. Foster is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Claus advances to half guard.

Claus Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Foster gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Claus is thwarting Foster's attempts to control the position. Foster is looking for a sweep. Claus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Foster is trying to control but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Foster looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Claus wants to take a breather but Foster is having none of it. Claus lands with a punch from half guard. Claus is thwarting Foster's attempts to control the position. Foster wants to get back to his feet.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Claus getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Claus throws a left and a right that both miss
and Foster holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

and Foster counters by clinching up. Foster has hold of one of Claus's legs. Claus is fighting the takedown attempt but Foster gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Foster stands up from guard. Let's bang! Foster shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Claus is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Claus throws a leg kick that is checked and Foster counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Foster. Foster with a flurry of punches that miss. Foster missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Foster postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Claus is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Foster, into his guard. Foster looking to hit a scissor sweep but Claus is one step ahead there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Foster keeping moving, preventing Claus from controlling successfully. Foster has an active guard here but Claus has managed to pass into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Claus connects with a nice short shot to Foster's temple.
