Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Slim Jim Snapper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stewart Tennent!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tennent misses with a body shot.
Tennent closes this distance looking for a takedown but Snapper circles away.
Tennent goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Snapper tries to clinch there but Tennent circles away.
Snapper avoids the body shot from Tennent.

Tennent fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Snapper sprawls well initially but Tennent persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Tennent stops Snapper from getting back to his feet.
Snapper is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Tennent jumps into side control!
Snapper wants to control but Tennent postures up.
Snapper regains half guard.
Snapper is looking for a sweep. Tennent is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Snapper is looking to get back to full guard here but Tennent has managed to pass to side control instead.
Snapper is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Snapper tries to improve his position but instead Tennent has taken his back!
Snapper tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Snapper slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Tennent tries to pass to full mount but Snapper defends it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Snapper gets back to full guard.
Snapper not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Snapper is looking for a triangle here but Tennent uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Snapper gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Tennent manages to capitalize on a mistake by Snapper to take his back!
Snapper tries to break free.
Snapper is working hard here to advance position.
Snapper is breathing heavily.
Snapper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tennent on the ground.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Tennent looking for the RNC.
Snapper rolls, trying to escape but Tennent keeps control of the position.

Tennent is looking for the choke from the back position but Snapper is controlling his hands well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tennent controlling well, preventing Snapper from escaping the position.
Snapper turns into Tennent and is now in his guard.
Snapper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tennent swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tennent is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Snapper scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Snapper looking to control but instead Tennent has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Snapper trying to control from Tennent's half guard. Tennent has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Snapper drops back, looking for a kneebar! Tennent looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Tennent looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Tennent!
Tennent has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Tennent manages to capitalize on a mistake by Snapper to take his back!
Snapper rolls, trying to escape but Tennent keeps control of the position.
Snapper trying to control the hands but Tennent breaks the grip.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tennent keeps control of the position as Snapper tries to break free.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Snapper turns into Tennent and is now in his guard.
Snapper wants to control from the top but Tennent keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Tennent closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Tennent advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Snapper really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Tennent trying to control but Snapper is having none of it.

Snapper wants to control but Tennent is having none of it.
Snapper is squirming around, avoiding Tennent's attempts to control the action.
Snapper tries to improve his position but instead Tennent has taken his back!
Snapper tries to roll but Tennent sticks to his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Snapper is keeping busy.
Snapper rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Snapper is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Tennent pulls his head out easily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Tennent throws a nice looking combination but Snapper bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Snapper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Snapper is pressing down on Tennent's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tennent is holding on for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Stewart Tennent will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Tennent has his takedown stuffed

and Snapper counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tennent's guard now.

Snapper drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Tennent dives on top into guard.

Snapper looking for subs off his back but Tennent has passed one foot through into half guard.
Tennent looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tennent is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Snapper is trying to maintain the position but Tennent is very close to passing his half guard.
Snapper wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Snapper trying to control here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Tennent shoots in and bounces Snapper off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Snapper looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Snapper is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Snapper on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Snapper tries to get out of the position.
Snapper wants to sweep here but Tennent controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Snapper tries to get to full guard but Tennent has control of the leg.
Snapper wants to control but Tennent is keeping busy.
Stewart Tennent is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I would just about give that final round to Stewart Tennent.
I've got Tennent winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
