Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mikel Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barney Rubble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mikel Douglas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Barney Rubble!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rubble misses with a wild body shot.
Douglas throwing a counter right hand but Rubble manages to avoid it.
Douglas closes the distance and clinches up with Rubble, looking for a takedown. Douglas pushes Rubble against the cage but Rubble circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rubble tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A little feinted left hand from Douglas on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Rubble gets a double leg takedown into Douglas's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rubble gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Rubble shoots and misses
and Douglas counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Left hook, right uppercut from Douglas.
Douglas takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Rubble shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Douglas makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Rubble's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rubble shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Douglas but Douglas pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mikel Douglas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barney Rubble.

and Douglas counters with a head kick. That will keep Rubble thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Douglas wants to control from the top but Rubble keeps moving.

Douglas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rubble looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Douglas throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Douglas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rubble wants to get back to his feet but Douglas passes into half guard.
Rubble tries to kick Douglas off but Douglas keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Douglas seems to be working for a kimura but Rubble defends the submission attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Douglas stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

A head kick misses from Rubble.

Rubble bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Rubble decides to stand back up.
Rubble fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rubble fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Douglas fails with the takedown.
Rubble misses with a series of wild punches.
Douglas thuds his right hand into Rubble's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Rubble clinches with his opponent.

Rubble manages to pull guard.
Rubble is looking to stand up but Douglas isn't so interested in that idea.
Douglas working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rubble's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Douglas stands up and waves to Rubble to follow him.
Douglas shoots in but no luck this time.
Rubble on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Rubble shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Douglas pinned against the cage. Douglas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barney Rubble seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Douglas manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Douglas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rubble walks away with a smile on his face. Douglas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Douglas looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Douglas lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Rubble kicks off Douglas and gets to his feet.

Rubble shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Douglas counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Douglas is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Rubble working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Douglas has passed into half guard!
Rubble is breathing heavily.

Rubble is looking to escape.
Rubble wants to stand back up but Douglas manages to pass into side control.
Rubble pushes Douglas away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Douglas gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Rubble parries the strikes from Douglas easily there. Douglas is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rubble to escape.
Douglas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rubble can do to turn this around?

Rubble tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

It looked like Douglas wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Douglas is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Rubble takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Nice straight punches there by Douglas. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Douglas.

It looked like Douglas was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Douglas is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Rubble is trying to get back to his feet but Douglas has full control of the position and if anything, Rubble has just worked his way into a worse spot.
