Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gil Jennings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Greg Jones will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Gil Jennings! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Greg Jones! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones jabs at Jennings's body. Jones throws a leg kick and Jennings counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jennings. Jennings lands with a light punch inside. Jennings manages to pull guard.
Jennings is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Jennings's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Jones trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jennings's guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jennings is on top in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jennings distracts Jones with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Jennings lands a couple of decent looking shots. Jones wants to stand and escape but Jennings is having none of it. Jones is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jennings with a nice head shot there. Jennings cracks Jones with a solid left hand. Jennings works over Jones with some ground and pound from guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones has momentary wrist control but Jennings slips an elbow through the middle. Jones wants to stand but Jennings is controlling the position. Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jennings. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jennings scoring with some ground and pound. Jones is wriggling around but Jennings manages to pass to half guard.
Jennings is nestled in close to Jones, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Jennings lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Jennings slips a nice elbow through Jones's hands, connecting with Jones's forehead. Jennings has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones tries to kick Jennings off but Jennings keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Jennings is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Jones wants to get back to his feet. Jones is trying to escape back to his feet but Jennings uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Jones is pushing Jennings's head away, looking to escape. Jennings manages to hold on to the position though. Jennings cracks Jones with a big right hand but Jones just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jennings prevents Jones from escaping the position. Jennings working the head with strikes. Jennings is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Jones looks calm but he's in trouble here. Jennings gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Jones is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Jennings lets go of the hold and Jones can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Gil Jennings!
