PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Haukur Ragnarsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Archer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Haukur Ragnarsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Anderson Archer!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ragnarsson takes a swing at Archer's ribcage but misses.

Archer rushes Ragnarsson and presses him up against the cage.
Archer jumps guard but Ragnarsson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Ragnarsson has a couple of punches blocked by Archer.
Archer avoids a wild elbow strike from Ragnarsson.
Archer tries to pull guard but Ragnarsson won't allow it.
Ragnarsson pushes off an throws an elbow but Archer leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Archer drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ragnarsson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Haukur Ragnarsson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Archer.

Archer closes the distance and pushes Ragnarsson back into the cage.

With the fighters up against the cage, Ragnarsson throws an elbow but misses.

Ragnarsson stalling in the clinch but Archer improves position.

Archer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Ragnarsson lands a head kick. Archer smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Ragnarsson throws a head kick that misses.
Ragnarsson throws a sloppy head kick and Archer moves out of range easily.

Ragnarsson lands a big head kick that sends Archer tumbling to the mat! Ragnarsson takes a step backwards and waves Archer back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Anderson Archer has been cut.

Archer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ragnarsson sprawls well initially but Archer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Archer is still in real trouble! Can Ragnarsson finish him?

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Archer is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ragnarsson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Archer pulls his head out easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Archer is looking for a kimura but Ragnarsson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Archer to get the leverage.

Archer uses his free foot to push down on Ragnarsson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ragnarsson.
Archer is looking to stand but Ragnarsson has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Archer has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ragnarsson is proving hard to escape from.

Anderson Archer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
