Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Merrill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hugo Merrill has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hugo Merrill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jacob Harrison!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Merrill closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Harrison is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Harrison is still trying to improve position.
Merrill blocks the strikes from Harrison.
Merrill moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Merrill decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Harrison closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Merrill did well to prevent Harrison getting side control.

Merrill has one foot on Harrison's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Harrison clinches.

Harrison successfully pulls guard.
Merrill not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Merrill stands and steps away. Harrison gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Merrill gets the takedown into side control.
Merrill content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Harrison wants to get back to his feet but Merrill drags him back down.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Merrill lands a decent elbow from side control.
Harrison on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Merrill controlling the position from side mount.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Merrill stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Merrill clinches up against the cage.

Merrill gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Harrison regains guard.
Merrill really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Merrill is looking to stand up but Harrison won't let him.
Merrill chips away with some ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Merrill landing some decent shots from guard.
Merrill is in close to Harrison's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Merrill will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Merrill postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Merrill makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Harrison thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Merrill seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Merrill throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Harrison works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Harrison isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Merrill stacks Harrison on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Merrill!
Harrison looks winded!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Merrill is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Harrison is trying to escape and Merrill transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Harrison is forced to tap! Nice work there by Merrill! Very nice indeed!
