Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Hughs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Greiner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eddie Hughs has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eddie Hughs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thomas Greiner!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughs misses with a looping right.
Greiner drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hughs defends it well.
Greiner closes the distance and clinches up with Hughs, looking for a takedown. Greiner pushes Hughs against the ropes but Hughs circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Greiner manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hughs on his heels. He'll look to pass Hughs's guard now, I'm sure.

Greiner looking to sit in guard and control but Hughs gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Greiner is on top in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Greiner throws an elbow that misses. Hughs uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Greiner's guard. Nice move by Hughs!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hughs is refusing to be controlled, as Greiner sits in half guard.

Greiner is trying to control the action in half guard but Hughs is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Greiner takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hughs misses with a straight left.
Greiner throws out a loose jab but Hughs uses good head movement to avoid it.
Greiner shoots in but Hughs avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hughs attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Greiner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Greiner wants to control from the top but Hughs keeps moving.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Hughs walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Greiner checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Greiner fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
As Greiner backs away, Hughs returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Hughs looks to score with a jab to the body but Greiner is just out of range.
Hughs throws a front kick aimed at Greiner's knee but Greiner avoids it well.
Hughs fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Greiner manages to avoid it.
Greiner has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hughs is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Greiner shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Greiner showed some decent athleticism there.

Greiner is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Greiner not landing any meaningful shots this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Greiner is just content to waste time from the top position. Hughs takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Greiner seems to be working for a kimura but Hughs defends the submission attempt.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Greiner ducks under a wild hook from Hughs.

Greiner feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Greiner shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hughs defends it nicely.

A close second round but Thomas Greiner will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Greiner loads up on a big right hand but Hughs slips the punch.

Greiner shoots in looking for a takedown. Hughs tries to sprawl out of it but Greiner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Hughs manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hughs looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Hughs swings for the body but Greiner moves out of range.
Greiner blocks a head kick by Hughs.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Greiner might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hughs haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Greiner seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hughs does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Greiner.
Hughs is looking to get back to his feet here but Greiner is keeping cool and he's managed to take Hughs's back.
Greiner scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Even with his hooks in, Greiner manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Hughs manages to scramble and ends up in full guard, under a barage of strikes . Great composure from Hughs.
Greiner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hughs swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Eddie Hughs.
I think Greiner has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Thomas Greiner rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
