Popper comes to the cage accompanied by Runnin with the Devil. Harland has chosen We Don't Know as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zander Harland!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Popper bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Harland's head.
No luck for Harland with that takedown attempt.
Popper swings widly with a right hand
and Harland counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Popper stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
No joy there for Popper, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Harland steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Popper.
Harland takes one to the side of the head.
Harland defending well as Popper loads up on a big left hand.
Harland moves out of range as Popper strikes.
Harland feints the counter takedown.
Bung Popper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Popper thuds a left hand into Harland's body.
Popper throws out a loose jab but Harland uses good head movement to avoid it.

Harland tries to counter with a clinch but Popper shakes him off and moves away.

Popper definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

and Harland makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Popper throws a jab when Harland was well out of range.
Popper misses with a looping right.
Harland is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Popper connects with a single shot there.
Harland takes a jab right on the kisser.
Popper connects with a body shot that sends Harland's belly button to the back.
Popper lands a jab to Harland's midsection.

Popper throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Harland sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Harland shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Popper manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
My spies in 3Band MMA ($500/week) inform me that Harland has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Popper lands a lovely overhand right.
Nice defenses there by Harland.
Harland now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Popper throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Popper misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Harland counters with a straight right hand.
Harland ducks right into an uppercut from Popper.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Popper lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


Harland is rocked!
Popper throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Harland stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Horrible takedown attempt by Harland or perhaps it was just good defense by Popper, which made it look bad.
Bung Popper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zander Harland.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harland needs to keep his hands up - Popper had a free shot at his head there.
Harland is still on wobbly legs! Can Popper finish him?
Popper drops Harland with a straight right hand, right on the button! Popper follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bung Popper!
