Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Lapris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Rodd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Todd Rodd will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlos Lapris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Todd Rodd!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodd throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Lapris feints and as Rodd raises his hands in defense, Lapris changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lapris controls from within his opponent's guard.
Rodd wants to get back to his feet but Lapris passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lapris content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lapris seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rodd for as long as he can get away with.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lapris connects with a nice short shot to Rodd's temple.
Rodd is trying to control but Lapris passes into side control!
Rodd gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Rodd really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lapris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lapris throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Rodd has his hands clasped together but Lapris breaks the hold and Rodd is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Lapris!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Carlos Lapris!
In his post fight interview, Carlos Lapris started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
