Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pearse Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yerba Mate Yerba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yerba Mate Yerba will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Pearse Mullen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Yerba Mate Yerba! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yerba shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mullen sprawls well. Mullen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Yerba gets slowly back to his feet. Mullen misses with a double jab
and Yerba counters with a three punch combo that has Mullen backing up. Mullen nods at Yerba to acknowledge the strikes. Pearse Mullen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mullen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Yerba moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mullen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yerba tries to avoid it but Mullen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yerba to the ground. Yerba escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Yerba cracks the inside of Mullen's front leg. Mullen throws a right hand that misses
and Yerba counters with a solid body kick. Yerba is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mullen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Mullen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Mullen has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Yerba regains guard immediately. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mullen stands up from guard. Let's bang! Mullen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mullen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Horrible takedown attempt by Yerba or perhaps it was just good defense by Mullen, which made it look bad. Pearse Mullen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yerba Mate Yerba. Yerba looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mullen is fending him off so far but Yerba persists. Nope, Mullen circles away and we're back to standing. Mullen tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Yerba manages to circle out of the way. Yerba fails with the takedown. Mullen throws a sloppy head kick and Yerba moves out of range easily. Yerba blocks the body kick.
Mullen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Yerba is looking to get back to is feet but Mullen passes into side control.
Mullen decides to stand back up. Mullen misses with a two punch combination.
Mullen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Mullen is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mullen stands and steps away. Yerba gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Mullen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Sloppy strikes from Mullen. Those never looked like landing. Mullen clinches up with Yerba and pushes him back against the cage. Yerba has a couple of punches blocked by Mullen.

Both fighters working to control the clinch. Yerba is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Yerba drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mullen gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mullen jumps guard and drags Yerba to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Yerba must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Yerba trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mullen pulls Yerba in to control the position. Mullen working for a triangle but Yerba defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yerba wants to stand and escape but instead Mullen has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Yerba has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mullen is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Yerba. Mullen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mullen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mullen has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Mullen fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Yerba checks it well. Yerba tries to counter with a clinch but Mullen shakes him off and moves away. Yerba drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mullen throws Yerba to one side and escapes! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mullen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Yerba. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pearse Mullen dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mullen jumps guard and drags Yerba to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Yerba really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mullen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Yerba trying to control the position from guard on top but Mullen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Yerba looking to sit in guard and control but Mullen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Mullen keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Yerba's head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yerba wants to stand and escape but Mullen is having none of it. Mullen passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Pearse Mullen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mullen lands with a punch from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yerba has hold of Mullen's hands but Mullen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Yerba on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Yerba tries to kick Mullen off but Mullen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Yerba is trying to control but Mullen passes into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Mullen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Mullen cracks Yerba with a big elbow. Mullen decides to stand back up. Mullen steps back and let's Yerba get back to his feet. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Mullen!
Mullen feints and as Yerba raises his hands in defense, Mullen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! That's three minutes gone in the round. Mullen uses his free foot to push down on Yerba's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Yerba. Mullen cracks Yerba with an uppercut from hell and Yerba crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Mullen's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mullen is thwarting Yerba's attempts to control the position. Mullen stands up out of the half guard. Yerba shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mullen pinned against the cage. Mullen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Yerba gets caught napping as Mullen dives in and scores a takedown. Yerba manages to retain guard. Yerba takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mullen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Mullen controlling from the top position. Mullen works a leg free and moves into half guard. Mullen seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Mullen stands up out of the half guard. Pearse Mullen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Mullen has managed to clinch.

And that's the end of the fight! Pearse Mullen showed his dominance in that final round. Well Mullen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
