Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Olliver Gullion! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leandro Jones! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gullion throws a nice inside leg kick. Jones misses with a wild body shot. Jones blocks a head kick by Gullion.
Gullion lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Gullion tries a head kick but it misses.
Jones thuds his right hand into Gullion's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Gullion dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Gullion throwing a counter right hand but Jones manages to avoid it. Jones has closed the distance and engaged Gullion in a clinch.
Gullion wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Gullion pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Gullion misses with an attempted mid kick.
We've been informed that Jones has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Gullion tries a head kick but it misses.
Gullion misses with an uppercut. Jones saw that one coming. Some wild striking there from Jones.
Leandro Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jab, jab by Jones - just one landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones loads up on a big right hand but Gullion slips the punch. Jones scores with a shot to the body.
Jones looks to land a left hand but Gullion moved out of range nicely. Jones blocks the body kick.
Jones takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. It appears Gullion was looking to counter with a kick there. Jones misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gullion.
Gullion jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Jones misses with an uppercut
and Jones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Jones shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gullion eats them both and turns towards Jones to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Gullion is rocked! Gullion looks up at the clock. Bad move! Jones lands a right hand from hell, dropping Gullion. Jones pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leandro Jones! Leandro Jones decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
