The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fitzgerald fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Slick, pushing him back against the cage.
Fitzgerald lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Slick works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Fitzgerald wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Slick manages to pass to side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slick thows a huge punch but Fitzgerald dodges it nicely.
Slick throws a strike but Fitzgerald avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Slick stands and steps away. Fitzgerald gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Fitzgerald closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Fitzgerald could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Fitzgerald is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Slick has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fitzgerald is working away from the top position though.

Fitzgerald slips a jab and a cross from Slick.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Fitzgerald enables Slick to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fitzgerald manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Slick postures up and lands a big shot to Fitzgerald's brow.
Fitzgerald lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Fitzgerald stands up and waves to Slick to follow him.
Slick throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Lucien Fitzgerald will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Slick tries to clinch but Fitzgerald is having none of it.
Fitzgerald tries to counter with a takedown but Slick is quick to defend against it.
Slick doesn't manage to clinch there - Fitzgerald circles away.
Fitzgerald tries to sprawl but Slick drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Slick tries to stand but can't do so whilst Fitzgerald controls his leg.
Slick takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The fighters are battling for position here. Fitzgerald manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Slick wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Fitzgerald's closed guard. He's half up but Fitzgerald has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Fitzgerald pivots and extends the arm, Slick falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Fitzgerald! Well done that man!
