PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Whitney Blake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Bat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Whitney Blake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, The Bat!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bat takes the fight into the clinch.
Blake is trying to drag Bat to the mat but Bat just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Bat works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Blake wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bat manages to pass to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bat tries to pass to full mount but Blake defends it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bat is thwarting Blake's attempts to control the position.
Blake tries to roll over but Bat keeps him under control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Blake gets back to full guard.
Bat trying to control the position from guard on top but Blake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Blake working a defensive guard here.
Blake keeping moving, preventing Bat from controlling successfully.
Blake will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Blake controls Bat momentarily but Bat frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Blake working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bat doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bat manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Blake looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bat sitting in guard here, content to control.
Bat loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Bat closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bat is trying to control the action in half guard but Blake is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Blake moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bat tries to free his leg and advance position but Blake is retaining full guard.
Bat trying to control the position from guard on top but Blake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Blake looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Blake looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bat is one step ahead there.
Blake keeping moving, preventing Bat from controlling successfully.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A short left from Bat.

Bat has clasped his hands together around Blake's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Bat tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bat throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Bat in side control, just content to control the action for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Bat dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Bat throws a head kick but Blake moves out of range.
Bat tries to clinch up.
Blake tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Bat manages to circle out of the way.

Bat scores with a takedown into Blake's guard.

Blake manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.


Blake is rocked!
Oh Blake is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Blake tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bat smiles and moves away.
Blake closes the distance and clinches up with Bat, looking for a takedown. Blake pushes Bat against the cage but Bat circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Bat lands a huge takedown. Blake is out but the ref is slow to react and Bat lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Blake lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). The Bat!
