Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blake Wightman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think James might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I Love the Cocaine. Wightman has chosen BFMV-You want a battle(here's a war) as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rick James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Blake Wightman! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though. James tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wightman swats him away and circles back towards the center. Wightman lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. James throws out a loose jab but Wightman uses good head movement to avoid it. Wightman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. James is trying to stand.

My spies in LOD:NYC Striking Academy inform me that Wightman has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wightman not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Wightman throwing shots but James is blocking nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wightman is nestled in close to James, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wightman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks James with a short hammerfist. James manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Wightman blocks an elbow strike. Wightman misses with a punch on the inside.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, James just misses with a elbow thrown towards Wightman's brow. Wightman is looking to take this one to the mat. Wightman lands with a short head shot on the inside. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wightman can't find room to land a body shot as James controls the action.

James pushes off an throws an elbow but Wightman leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Wightman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as James walks away with a smile on his face. Wightman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Rick James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blake Wightman. James tries to clinch up but Wightman circles away and keeps his distance. James stuffs the takedown attempt from Wightman. Wightman gets slowly back to his feet.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wightman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Wightman is working James over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Wightman lands a couple of digs. Wightman wants to control from the top but James keeps moving. James avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. James wants to stand but Wightman is controlling the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wightman with a flurry of punches that miss. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
