Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Steve Cusumano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Ines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Cusumano! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Ines! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cusumano misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ines tries to bum rush Cusumano with a series of wild strikes but Cusumano uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ines misses with a looping right. Cusumano misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ines moves out of range of the strikes. A telegraphed right hand from Ines misses the target. Cusumano throws the left hand but Ines avoids the punch easily. Cusumano cracks Ines with a right hand to the side of the head. Ines's coach down at Midnight MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ines's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Ines throws a hook but Cusumano avoids it easily. Ines misses with an uppercut
letting Cusumano counter with a right hand. Ines looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Ines throws a right and a left that Cusumano avoids nicely. Cusumano looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Left hook, right uppercut from Ines. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ines moves out of range as Cusumano strikes. Cusumano throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cusumano shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Cusumano takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Ines takes one to the chin there. Ines misses with the combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ines misses with an uppercut
and Cusumano counters with a nice uppercut. Cusumano clips Ines with a right and a left that makes him do the chicken dance for a couple of seconds. He touched his left hand down on the canvas so the referee steps between the fighters to give Ines a standing 8 count before we can continue the bout.
Ines is rocked! Ines drops his guard momentarily, allowing Cusumano to crack him with a picture perfect lead left hook! Boom! Down goes Ines! Oh, he's in big trouble - I don't like his chances here as the referee's count reaches 5. 6,7,8,9...10! He's out! Cusumano takes it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Steve Cusumano! Steve Cusumano retains his welterweight title!
