Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cheik Imbula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Imbula has chosen ~Apache~ as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Don Stewart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cheik Imbula!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Imbula looks to land a left hand but Stewart moved out of range nicely.
Stewart was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Imbula chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Stewart can pounce on him.
Imbula has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Stewart connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Imbula momentarily.
Stewart misses with a low kick.
A nice side step and Imbula releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Imbula swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Imbula lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Stewart just misses with a punch to the body.
Stewart throws an overhand right that lands on Imbula's shoulder, as Imbula tries to avoid the shot.
Imbula looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Imbula throws a body punch but Stewart moves out of range.
Stewart lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Stewart tries to work over Imbula's front leg with a kick but Imbula checks it.
Imbula let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Imbula counters with a right hand to the body.
Stewart looks to throw a body kick
and Imbula cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Stewart thuds a left hand into Imbula's body.
Imbula bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Stewart's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Imbula darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Imbula lands with a right hand.

Imbula misses with a body shot.
A little feinted left hand from Stewart on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Imbula throws a series of punches but Stewart avoids them all with ease.
Stewart feints and then cracks Imbula's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Imbula down.
Imbula comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Stewart misses the jab.
Imbula is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Stewart rather than just go for the knockout.
Imbula throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Stewart looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Stewart throws a big shot that misses.
Stewart misses with a body kick.
Stewart misses with a hook. Imbula ducked under it nicely.
Imbula thuds his right hand into Stewart's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

and Imbula counters with a low kick, right behind Stewart 's knee.

Stewart swings away with a body shot that misses
and Imbula counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Imbula cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Stewart lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Imbula has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Imbula and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Stewart throws out a loose jab but Imbula uses good head movement to avoid it.
Stewart throws a leg kick that is checked
and Imbula counters with a thumping low kick.
Don Stewart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stewart looks to land a combination but Imbula avoids it well.
Stewart misses with a hook
and Imbula makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Stewart is breathing heavily.
A jab from Stewart finds it's way through Imbula's defenses.
Cheik Imbula is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Imbula sizes up Stewart with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Stewart lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Imbula swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Imbula is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Stewart had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Imbula throws a hook but Stewart blocks it.
Stewart plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Stewart will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Imbula connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Imbula tries to land a front kick but Stewart steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Stewart takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Stewart steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Imbula.
Imbula connects with a leg kick. Stewart looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Stewart. Imbula does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stewart throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
It seemed like Imbula was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Imbula tests Stewart's chin there with a solid looking shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stewart misses with a takedown attempt - Imbula sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Imbula! But no joy.
Imbula blocks a jab.
Imbula appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Stewart on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Stewart feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Imbulas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Imbula keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Stewart bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Stewart throws a hook to the side of Imbula's head but Imbula sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A little jabbing left from Imbula on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Good leg kick by Stewart there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Oh Stewart is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Imbula counters with a straight right hand.
Stewart smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Stewart buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Imbula scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Cheik Imbula seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Imbula makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Stewart really felt that one!

Stewart seems to have got his legs back now.

Stewart drives through with a takedown into Imbula's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Imbula is trying to control the position but Stewart postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Imbula is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Imbula has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Stewart got a little sloppy there for a moment and Imbula has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stewart has managed to get both his arms back between Imbula's legs - danger averted.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Imbula is on top in guard.

Stewart not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Stewart is adopting a defensive guard.
Imbula won't allow Stewart to sweep him here.
Imbula trying to control the position from guard on top but Stewart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Imbula is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stewart wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Imbula is now in half guard.
Imbula is looking to take a break and control but Stewart is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Imbula is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Stewart is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Cheik Imbula!
Our winner, Cheik Imbula, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
