The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loki fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Gomez throws a combination. Loki tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Gomez stuffs the takedown.
Gomez seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Loki has Gomez up against the cage in a clinch.
Gomez goes for a takedown attempt but Loki pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Loki tries to land a body kick
and Gomez counters with a single leg into guard. Loki didn't expect that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gomez is looking to stand up but Loki won't let him.
Loki is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gomez is fighting to break Loki's control of his arms but Loki is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Loki wants to improve his position but Gomez is controlling well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Loki is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Gomez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Loki quickly recovers to half guard.
Loki has one foot on Gomez's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Loki darts in and clinches Gomez up against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Loki is on top in guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Gomez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Gomez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gomez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Gomez wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Loki rushes Gomez and presses him up against the cage.
Gomez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gomez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Gomez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Loki off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Loki drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gomez pulls his leg out and moves away.

Gomez leaves Loki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
As Loki tries to get set, Gomez tries to push him back and clinch up but Loki manages to avoid the attempt.
Gomez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Loki to the mat! Loki manages to get full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Loki can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gomez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Gomez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Gomez drops back looking for a leg! Loki is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Loki manages to kick Gomez off! Gomez jumps back into Loki's guard.
Gomez decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Gomez fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Loki.
Loki closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Loki is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gomez gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Loki is trying to pull guard but Gomez turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Gomez pulls Loki into guard.
Gomez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gomez wants to stand up but Loki is controlling him.

That's time! Gomez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Loki wants to counter the offense by Gomez and move into the clinch position.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Loki is defended easily by Gomez.
Loki goes for a double leg but Gomez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gomez continues to drive forward.
Loki tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gomez swivels and escapes.
Gomez attempts a counter takedown but Loki avoids it well and moves away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gomez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Loki sees it coming and defends easily.

Loki is looking for a sweep. Gomez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
