Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dave Monson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazushi Mizushima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kazushi Mizushima has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Dave Monson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Monson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kazushi Mizushima! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monson is looking to chop away at Mizushima's legs. Monson feints and then cracks Mizushima's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mizushima down. A jab lands there for Monson. Monson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Mizushima has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mizushima there as he acknowledges the shot. Mizushima has closed the distance and engaged Monson in a clinch.
Monson working some nice short punches in the clinch. A quick uppercut on the inside from Monson.
Mizushima is rocked! The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Mizushima is still on wobbly legs! Can Monson finish him? Monson throws a punch but it's blocked by Mizushima. Mizushima seems to have recovered his senses. Mizushima pressing his opponent against the cage. A bit of stalling here from Mizushima.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mizushima fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Monson lands a shot to the body. Monson lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Mizushima leaning his opponent against the cage. Monson lands a body shot. Monson scores with an uppercut up the middle. Monson decides to pull guard. Mizushima wants to control from the top but Monson keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monson keeping full guard, as Mizushima tries to pass. Monson looking for a guillotine here but Mizushima defends easily.

Mizushima showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Monson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mizushima can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mizushima wants to control from the top but Monson keeps moving. Monson looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mizushima has picked Monson up and slammed him! Monson can't keep hold of the triangle and Mizushima manages to pass to side control! Mizushima wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monson keeps working. Mizushima is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Monson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Mizushima tries for a kimura but Monson is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Who's going to make the next move? Monson tries to improve position but can't. Monson manages to get back to half guard. Monson is trying to maintain the position but Mizushima is very close to passing his half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Monson is looking to improve his position.

Dave Monson dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Mizushima gets caught napping as Monson dives in and scores a takedown. Mizushima manages to retain guard. Monson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Monson with a flurry of punches that miss. Mizushima will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Monson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Monson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Monson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Mizushima is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Mizushima seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monson trying to control here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mizushima is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Monson looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Mizushima is looking to take a break and control but Monson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mizushima looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Mizushima working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Monson's thigh. Monson counters though and makes it back to full guard. Mizushima postures up.

Mizushima cracks Monson with a solid left hand. Monson keeping moving, preventing Mizushima from controlling successfully. Mizushima is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Mizushima got a little sloppy there for a moment and Monson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mizushima has managed to get both his arms back between Monson's legs - danger averted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mizushima won't allow Monson to sweep him here.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Monson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mizushima can do to turn this around? Mizushima closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mizushima lands in his opponent's guard. Monson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Monson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mizushima defends it easily. Mizushima trying to control but Monson is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mizushima advances position into side control! Monson tries to buck Mizushima off but Mizushima is having none of it. Monson is not content to let Mizushima control the position. Monson can't do much from the bottom here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mizushima in side control lands a decent elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kazushi Mizushima showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Monson dives in for a single leg takedown but Mizushima sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. A slapping leg kick lands for Mizushima.
Monson leaves Mizushima with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Monson feinted with a counter takedown. Monson cracks a nice hook into Mizushima's ribs. Monson throws the kick towards the body but Mizushima avoids it. Mizushima moves in looking to clinch but Monson pushes him off. Monson scores with a kick to the body.
Mizushima shoots in but no luck this time. Mizushima looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Dave Monson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kazushi Mizushima. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mizushima closes the distance and clinches up with Monson, looking for a takedown. Mizushima pushes Monson against the cage but Monson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Monson connects with a body shot that sends Mizushima's belly button to the back. Monson shoots for a double leg takedown but Mizushima sprawls well. He's pushed Monson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Mizushima wants to clinch up but Monson keeps it at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mizushima forces Monson back against the cage and clinches. Monson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mizushima to keep the fight standing. Monson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mizushima walks away with a smile on his face. Monson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Monson scores with a nice strike. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Monson, as that shot connected.
Mizushima has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Monson. Mizushima tries to clinch up so Monson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Monson stays in close to Mizushima's body and controls the position. Mizushima keeping moving, preventing Monson from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mizushima trying to control the position here. Mizushima wants to hit a switch here but Monson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mizushima there! Mizushima is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Monson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mizushima is looking to escape. Mizushima keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monson trying to control but he's not successful this time. Mizushima tries to hold on but Monson postures up. Mizushima can't escape the position.
Mizushima tries to lock up and control but Monson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Mizushima is wriggling around trying to escape.
Monson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mizushima is looking to escape. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mizushima regains half guard. Dave Monson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Monson is thwarting Mizushima's attempts to control the position. Monson prevents Mizushima from improving his position. Mizushima is not content to let Monson control the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mizushima is defending against the submission attempts here by Monson.

And that's the end of the fight! Dave Monson showed his dominance in that final round. Well Monson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
