Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Gerhard Vettl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Pierno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Gerhard Vettl!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andre Pierno!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Vettl. Pierno does a little dance to reset his feet.
Vettl throws a shot to the body.
Pierno scores with a jab. Vettl acknowledges it with a nod of the head.


It looks like Gerhard Vettl has been cut.
Vettl lands with a nice body punch.
Pierno connects with a crisp jab.
Pierno scores with a sloppy right hand. Vettl should have avoided that one.
Vettl tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pierno swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Vettl doesn't manage to clinch there - Pierno circles away.
Vettl takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Vettl lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pierno circles away quickly and effectively.
Vettl takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Vettl counters by moving into the clinch.

I was talking to Vettl's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Pierno throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Vettls head.

Vettl tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Vettl could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Vettl is trying to push Pierno away but Pierno has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.

Gerhard Vettl's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Pierno tries to stall but Vettl uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pierno scores with an uppercut up the middle.


Vettl is rocked!


Jeez, Gerhard Vettl's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The crowd are calling 'kneeees!' as Pierno has the Thai clinch. Pierno obliges, smashing a knee brutally into Vettl's nose and sending him crashing to the canvas! Will be beat the count?! 3,4,5,6,7,8...9... and he's up on 9! Wow, that was close! The referee takes a long look and is going to allow it to continue!
Oh Vettl is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Vettl is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Pierno doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Vettl crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Vettl's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Andre Pierno!
A very excited looking Andre Pierno made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
