Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jose Pacheco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duxney Pierda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pierda has chosen Cigarettes After Sex - Please Don't Cry as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jose Pacheco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Duxney Pierda! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pacheco shoots in and bounces Pierda off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Pacheco won't allow Pierda to sweep him here. Pacheco stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pierda swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pacheco slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Pacheco is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Pierda prevents Pacheco from improving position. Pierda is trying to get back to half guard. Pacheco tries to move into full mount but can't pass Pierda's legs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pacheco is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Pierda will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Pacheco tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pacheco has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Pacheco works to advance to full mount. Pierda defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pierda throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Pacheco avoids the attempt from Pierda to control. Pacheco looking to control but Pierda is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Pacheco controlling the position easily from mount. Pacheco forces the positional change into back control. Pierda is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Pacheco off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Pacheco controlling well, preventing Pierda from escaping the position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pierda lands with a few short shots to the body. Pacheco thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pierda's head. Pierda is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Pacheco is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Pacheco closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pierda to the mat! Pierda manages to get full guard. Pierda throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pierda is pressing down on Pacheco's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Pacheco slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Pierda wants to get back to his feet but Pacheco is dominant here and he's now got Pierda's back! Good control from Pacheco. Pacheco is not going to allow Pierda to sit and survive in this position. Pierda is trying to get back to his feet but Pacheco has full control of the position and if anything, Pierda has just worked his way into a worse spot. Pierda is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pierda throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Pacheco tries to counter with a takedown but Pierda is quick to defend against it. Pierda dips to his left and cracks Pacheco with an uppercut! Pacheco is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Pierda. Pacheco steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pierda. Pierda moves into range and connects with a jab. Pierda fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pacheco on the side of the head. Pierda misses with a low kick. Pierda misses with a straight right. Pacheco feinted with a counter takedown. Pierda connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Pierda keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Pacheco is rocked! Nice shot by Pierda. Oh Pacheco is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pierda tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Duxney Pierda is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pacheco shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Pacheco was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Pacheco seems to have got his legs back now. A lull in the action here as Pacheco stalls from top position. Pacheco landing a few strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pacheco wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pierda keeps working. Pacheco controlling the position. Pierda throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Pacheco thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Pierda is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pacheco's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Pierda missing with punches from the bottom.
Still in half guard, Pacheco seems content to control. Pierda flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pierda tries to roll over but Pacheco keeps him under control. Pacheco is controlling the pace.
Pacheco is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pierda has managed to free his arm - good work. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Pierda wants to improve his position but Pacheco is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Pierda tries to kick Pacheco off but Pacheco keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Pacheco is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pierda can do to turn this around? Pierda catches Pacheco with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Pacheco takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Pacheco closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pierda to the mat! Pierda manages to get full guard. Pacheco slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Duxney Pierda has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Pacheco passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Pierda tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pacheco content to control rather than advance. Pacheco escapes and gets back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Duxney Pierda. I think Pacheco has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
