Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Otavio Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lee Jung Park! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Johnson fails with a takedown attempt. Johnson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Park but Park pushes him off and we're back to square one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson looks for a takedown but Park sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Otavio Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Park pinned against the cage. Park gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Park throws out a counter right but Johnson avoids it with no problem. Park gets caught napping as Johnson dives in and scores a takedown. Park manages to retain guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Park keeping full guard, as Johnson tries to pass. Johnson is looking to advance position but Park has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Johnson can't escape the position.
Park in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Johnson is rocked!
It looks like Otavio Johnson has been cut. Johnson is trying desperately to improve position. Park connects with a bit shot that sees Johnson covering up! More strikes from Park and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Park is our winner by TKO!
